Charged with the task of keeping the student body informed, whether they like it or not, the interesting assortment of characters that make up the Campus Courier staff execute their duties with flair and a large helping of cheerful optimism. Although it is the lesser publicized people of the news and business staffs that do most of the basic and unpleasant work, the responsibility for directing, tying loose ends together, and getting the Campus Courier paper out on time falls on the editors. General topics were handled this year by Marilyn Shaw. Editorial opinion was spouted with the approval of Edgar Norton. Features were under the co-directionof Debbie Jones and Elisa Kaplan, while photography came under Rob Tucher's watchful eye. The Sports world and everything having to do with jocks in general belonged to Bob Farina. Trying to put all of this material together was Managing Editor Helen Wheeler and the whole pile of problems and overall organization was heaped upon Editor-in-Chief Linda VanZandt and advisors Ms. Patricia Hough and Mr. Bert Weaver. The paper is published nine times a year and has established a reputation for controversy and literary excellence. Hanging', around, the staff has time to have a little fun.

gba.. vid' LEFT TO RIGHT: Steven Overberg. Arthur M. Saylor. lll fPres., Capt.l Samuel McKinney, James Schwanda, Hon. Marker Wt-ntle'I Wic- gand. Chess Club The Chess Club this year wasted no time in preparing West's team for its matches in the Central ,lcrsey Chess League. Coached by five advisors, tMr. Petrus, Mr. Motelusco, Mr. Routel, Mr. Sinko, and Mr. Cugliarij, the team had several losses but many wins, its record being incomplete at the time of this writing. Since its inception in 1972, the club has consisted primarily of members of the class of 75. Thus, as this class takes its leave, the chess club goes with it in a final blaze of glory, marking the end of an era. However, there is still hope, for the president has left it in the competent hands of Mark Wiegand tclass of 3771, and wishes him luck in digging up a team, so that the state-wide image of West will not die. The chess team this year consisted of Arthur Saylor fpresident and Team captain for th ree yearsl, .lim Schwanda, Dayna Delgiudice, Sam McKinney, Steve Overberg, Mike Underhill, and Mark Wicgand. Non-team club members included John Winans, Sue Ann Dess, Joe Oppelt, and Ken Flynn.
