Coaches To be unbeaten for 34 straight games takes more than talent and skill - it also takes great coaching and great coaching is what East had once again this year. The Minutemen's chief mentor, George Creiner, has consistently turned out superlative football teams for the past five years. Greiner's winning formula is due, in part, to one of the state's finest coaching staffs. This superb staff consisted of defensive coach Vince Bodinog offensive line coach, Bill Ap- sleyg offensive end coach, Jim Nortong and linebacker coach, Dennis Gatesg as well as the freshmen coaches Joe Panzarella and Ed Ginty. As long as the Red and Blue has these brilliant individuals at the helm, success will be the only course East will follow in the years to come.

In 1968 when the streak of 34 unbeaten games began, this year's seniors were merely spectators in the stands, who stared in awe at such outstanding performers as Gary Debes and Mark Barrett. But now, four years later, these seniors were the out- standing performers on the gridiron as they kept the incre- dible streak alive with another prestigious 9-O season. Whether it was on offense, defense or the speciality teams these seniors were the impetus of another successful Min- uteman team. This year's fine crop of senior players consisted of the fol- lowing: Co-captains, Jeff Miller and Dave Wessel, Leo Bar- ry, Doug Bateman, Pete Bernard, Rudy Boettcher, Mark Donlay, Tim Dostal, Allan Gray, Mike Harding, Pete Kran- ack, Jerry Lyness, Mark Marchuk, and Ed Spiedel.
