Coach Timko's swimming team completed another successful year, as they finished with a 13-2 record under the leadership of senior captains, Eric Edgerton and Ken Miller. The Minutemen set many records, including new marks in the 200 yd. freestyle, 100 yd. butter- fly, and 100 yd. freestyle by Peter Turekg in the 200 individual medley and 100 yd. backstroke by Eric Edgerton, and as a team, the mermen broke the previous record inthe 200 yd. med- ley relay and the 400 yd. freestyle relay. Filling out a well-balanced squad were George Bate- man, Alan Douglas, Jim Merriam, and Dennis Rimides. Girl's Sports '70 Girl's sports at East play a large part in the Phys. Ed. activites that we have. Our excellent gymnastics team, headed by lVlrs. lVlcCormick, has entered several local competitions and compiled excellent results. Girl's basketball attained a 9-3 record, which is an admirable achievement, and field hockey has put forth a good effort with a 1-3 season. Girl's tennis, which many people never knew existed, came out undefeated, with wins over Franklin, West and Watchung. Mrs. Hoffer, advisor of the Girl's Athletic Association, has done much to further the cause of girl's sports at East. We congratulate the girl's Phys. Ed. Department ona job well done. ff' ' 'EI-is
