Boys Basketball With only five lettermen back Coach Hofmeister had a difficult time getting a team organized. Almost all of the boys reported for practice. In mid-October practice began. The scores of the games we played were as fol- lows: I we they Richland 36 27 Prescott 30 A8 Massena 21 LO Zion 39 38 Prescott 33 L8 Orient L0 32 Greenfield 25 51 Cumberland 35 39 Lewis Ll 53 Richland L8 3h Hsssena 52 73 Fcntanelle LL 53 Orient 37 39 Qovertimel Fontanelle 38 33 Zion L5 36 Cumberland L7 b6 Mscksburg L3 35 Orient L2 L6 Although we didn't have very good season with 8 wine and ll loses we did have a fairly good season because we did play the tougher teams of this area. It was our luck to have to play Orient who was tougher than the most in this area in both the county and sectional tournaments. They were able to d f edge us out in both tournaments and once by an overtime. Both games coul o went either way. Orient went on to win the sectional and placed third in the 1 ed Greenfield and Massena who placed on the state poll county. We also p ay as one of the top teams in the state. We did fairly well against them too. Those who made up the squad were John Vetteriok, Clark Cole, Jack McDermott, Dick Brawdy, Dick McMorran, Ramon Rechtenbach, Lonnie Scott, Paul Pri hard Ed Schrader Frank Cole, Richard Vetterick, Lewis Gipple and Larry c Bauer. Coach Hofmeister's starting lineup changed from game to game. Jack McDermott, Dick McMorran and Clark Cole started almost every game. It was J h V tterick and Frank Cole to fill the between Ed Scharder, Dick Brawdy, o n e , other two positions. Jack was captain of the team most of the games. The high scorers were Jack McDermott 191, Clark Cole 163, Dick Mc- 109 Dick Brawdy 80 John Vetterick 67, Ed Schrader 58, and Frank Cole Morran 36 po1nts.' Jack McDermott, end Clark Cole received special honors from the counties coaches. Jack was selected on the all-county team and Clark was selected on the all-county second team. For the first time in the history of the Bridgewater boys baskbtball the Bulldogs pulled through with a victory the first game of the season. We are proud to have broken this Jinx. The outlook for the Bulldogs in the future looks very good. There are a lot of good promising underclassmen coming up.

Baseball Almost all of the boys in high school reported for baseball the first day of school. The team was much hampered because it had lost most of its letter- men. It was a tough job for Coach Hofmeister to get a team together. Two new battery mates were needed. Those who reported for baseball were John Vetteriok, Dick Brawdy, Clark Cole, Delmar Williams, Jack McDermott, Dick lclorran, Lonnie Scott, Ramon Rech- tenbach, Lewis Gipple, lrank Cole, Ed Scharder, Paul Prichard, Gary Bond, Rex Hight, Larry Bauer, and Richard Vetterick. Two lreshmen Jerry Bower and Bob McDermott saw some action in games that we played. The Freshmen had baseball at a diferent period than the other Qoys in high school. Our starting lineup was Uclorran P, R. Vetterick C, J. McDermott lB, J. Vetterlck 2B, I. Cole 3B, Gipple SS, Scott LF, C. Cole CI, Brawdy RP. Clark Cole turned his knee early in the season and couldn't play anymore. Ed Schra- der, Paul Prichard and Jerry Bower also saw a lot of action, Scott and F. Cole did home pitching too. we they Richland 1 ll Cumberland 7 8 Zion 10 6 Prescott 3 ll Richland l 2b Cumberland 12 6 Zion A 6 Although we didn't win many games the outlook for baseball at B. n. s. is good because there are many promising underclaasmen coming up.
