l Teens The Y Teen ms an organxzatxon of much mterest and of hxgh value to the glrls of the school The emblem of the Y Teens rs a blue trxangle wh1ch represents the three phases of a gxrl s lxfe the mental the sp1r1tual and the physxcal The Y Teens became a Natxonal Orgamzatlon m 1927 Mrs Clarence Martin Mxss Annabelle Kxmsey and Mxss Maxme Drake were our sponsores rn 1947 1948 and 1949 respectxvely There are twenty fxve gxrls ln our or gamzatxon thls year under the dxrectlon of Mrs L1ll1an Lmdquzst Offxcers elected were Pre xdent Shrrley Jensen Vxce Pre rdent Mxldred Mlller Secretary Janet Murray Treasurer Delores McDowall Reporter Fae Joan Murray Projects of the Y Teens xncluded sendxng chocolate bars to Japan and attendmg the conference whxch was held at Bedford Iowa on September 24 1949 Boys F Club The boys wlth letters started a letter club this year for the ilrst trme Offlcers elected were Presldent Dallas Purdy V1ce Presrdent Don Bolton Secretary Gene Armstrong Treasurer Ivan Bogma There were fourteen charter members We sold penclls wlth basketball schedules on them and wolf emblems to fasten to llcense plates of cars Girls Glee Club The gxrl s glee club has thmrty members The g1rls pract1ce perrods are on Tuesday and Thursday A glrls sextet sang at the Junxor Class Play October Z8 1949 Those who sang were Ethelmar 18 Martxn Beverly Edwax ds Charlene Ruth Mlldred Mlller Shrrley Jensen and Eleanor Wemhevner On January ll 1950 the girls attended the Adalr County Music Festxval rn Greenfleld On Aprll l 1950 a gu ls sextet went to the vocal contest ln' Greenfxeld Those who went were Ethelmarle Mar tzn Mxldred Mrller Shrrley Hughes Eleanor Wemhexmer Frances Langguth and Phylhs Lorenz A glrls tr ro composed of Ethelmarle Martrn Mrldred Mxller and Eleanor Welnhexmer also went to the contest ln Greenfreld On Aprxl 15 1950 the gxrls glee club went to Guthrre Center to a contest A sextet composed of Lmda Purdy Delores McDowell Frances Langguth Jan Roberts Mxldred Bauer and Janet Ruth sang at the concert held on Apr xl Z8 at the Fontanelle Hlgh School Boys Glee Club The boys glee club started out with approxrmately a dozen members On January ll 1950 the glee club attended the fxrst annual Adaxr County Vocal Muslc Festwal at Greenfzeld We organxzed a Boys Barber Shop Quartet wlth Glen Gourley bass Don Bolton, barltone Dallas Purdy second tenor and Kay Dodds, flrst tenor Thxs quartet went to Greenfxeld on Apr11 1 1950 to the mus1c contest Don Bolton and Glen Gourley each took vocal solos 42 7 U - ,, . . . . . . . . ,Q . .
