January L Bridgewater L9 Here Lewis 3b Lewis and B'Water were evenly matched throughout the first half of the game Lewis had a very narrow margin of 19 18 at the half We came back more determined to win and succeeded in doing so January 7 Bridgewater L7 Here Cumberland 3b The Cumberland coach was very confident as he started the second team against us at the beginning of the game He soon realized his mistake and put in the stronger team The score at the half was 2b lL 1 our favor We succeeded in keeping the lead throughout the game January ll Bridgewater 39 Here Richland 20 The Bulldogs won another easy victory from the weaker Richland boys We held them to only 3 field goals the first half The halftime was 19 6 to our advantage T McDermott was high point man with 16 points January la Massena 36 There Bridgewater 28 In our second game with Massena they still had the stronger team ur boys played hard and the teams were almost evenly matched with the score at the half 18 lu in their favor We couldn't seem to make as many points as needed the last half February 8 Bridgewater Ll There Zion 32 In our second game with Zion we came out victorious This was the roughest game that the Bulldogs were in all season At the half we lead them 19 10 Everyone played an important part in scoring February ll Bridgewater L6 Here Orient 33 Orient boys were turned back by our Fighting Five Our boys started points Everyone played an important part in the came February 18 Bridgewater 68 There Cumberland 55 Our last game of the season brought us another victory We played our highest scored offensive game this season The halftime score was 28 26 for McDermott and Chafa of Bridgewater each rated 20 points while Schrader was high man for them with 3l points COUNTY TOURNAMENT AT GREENFIELD Brldgewater 33 January 27 Fontanelle 18 In the first round of the County Tournament we drew Fontanelle The Bulldogs played fairly well but had played better ball than this The half time score was 6 15 in our favor Their scoring was evenly divided while Chafa of Bridgewater hit 16 points Greenfield A7 January 29 Bridgewater 33 The second round of the County found us playing the Greenfield team The Bulldogs defense wasn't clicking as usual and the Tigers offensewm perfect At the half they lead 20 ll Chafa was high man for us with 19 points and Stowell for Greenfield with 16 points 5 1 , ' ' n 0 . 0 off well and lead the entire game. Bridgewater L6 January 3l Zion 36 The consolation round found us matched with Zion. The team easily ran over Zion for the County consolation trophy. At the half the score was 23 to 7 for us Ve held the lead all the last half SECTIONAL TOURNAVENT AT GREERFIELD Bridgewater 53 February 22 Orient L3 The Sectional Tournament was held at Greenfield We were matched with Orient lH the first round The Bulldogs came back the second half after belng behlnd 2h 21 to win in a thriller Hughes was the outstandlng player of the game Bridgewater LL February 2b nmssena 37 What a game! The odds were against us as Iassena had beaten us twice in regular game play All the Bulldogs fought hard to dCCOmpllSh a vlctory Vassena had the lead only once and that was during the first few mindes of play We were leadirg at the half 23 19 Ie vere happy that we could repay our fan's enthuslasm by winnirg this game Bridgewater 5L, February 26 Cumberland 1,2 Purrah! This 1S the first time Bridgewater boys ever won a Sectional Tournament ln ba ketball The boys had some trouble the flrst half but came back the second half to win At the half it was tied 25 all All of the fans ard players vere extremely happy after the game DISTRICT 'room war 'r AT HARLAN 'iota 56 March 3 Bridgewater 31 The Wiota Quintet defeated us 1n the District Tournament Although we were outscored we were not outclassed The Wiota boys were exceptionally good or making baskets while our boys couldn't seem to be able to score 'PEP' VEETIIGS If you hao ened to be go1ng by the Bridgewater High School on days of D8SK9tb3l1 games ard heard a lot of commotion in the assembly, it was only the cheerleaders, along with all the High School and Junior High getting 'hep' with a 'Pep' meetlng During the Girls Tournament the boys got together and composed a 'Skit' to entertain the g1rlS They slowed us new ways for Viola, Elma, Beverly, ard Vyrna to guard their opponerts They demonstrated to the forwards, Joy, Sherry,Kathryn,and Norma new shots they thought would help win their games The boys also gave a good demonstratlon of how Kathryn should rur down the floor The girls got together and gave a 'Sklt' for the boys during their tour narents They gave them some 'Flre' water to pep them up These 'pep' meet ings seemed to give the boys and girls the right spirit ard the games uammy worked out the way ve had them planned The cheerleaders were Barbara Barnhart from High School, Ruth Garside, and Kay Glpole, both from the Jun1or H1gh They were dressed in black balle rina skirts, white blouses w1th a black ribbon across the nont w1th B H S written in gold HEP' H P' HEP' Three cheers for our old Hlghl Voices ring' IEP' FEP' HEP! Just see our colors fly! hhile we sing! Forward march, let this our motto be VICTORY' Through all klnds of weather we wlll Jog along together, True and loyal we shall ever be l n .. a Y u.
