Quia? mm The l9L8 L9 girls basketball team comnleted the season with three tied games, nine defeats and one win At the beginning of the season we succeeded, in buying new midriff suits These suits were obtained by the support of the townspeople The forwards were Norma Sinner, Joy Cole, Kathryn Gipple, Sherry Gipole, Phyllis Campen, Dorothy Roos and Margaret Bower Joy was high scorer with 21h points Sherry hit lLL Norma hit 80 and Kathryn 27 The opponents scored 607 points to our smaller number, L69 points The guards were Viola Ahnen, Beverly Wyllie, Elma Rechtenbach, Myrna Cass, Jacquelyn Day, Helen Carl, and Marlene Kniep November 16 Bridgewater 31 There Fontanelle 31 Our first game of the season proved partially successful The score t the half was 17 to lu in our favor Kriens was high scorer for the opponents with 16 Cole made 19 for Bridgewater november 19 Zion Ll There Bridgewater 16 Zion proved too much for the small Bridgewater team The score at the half was 9 to 20 for Zion Boyd scored 25 points for Zion Wyllie's inter ception of passes was outstanding November 25 Richland L3 There Bridgewater Ll The hard fighting Richland team accounted for our second defeat We put Joy made 19 points while Johnson tallied 21 December 3 Bridgewater 27 Here Massena 23 A thrill ' Our first victory The half tlme score was 12 15 in our favor Our girls remained ln the lead and defeated the visitors Ahnen played an outstanding game in guard position December lb Orient L6 There Bridgewater 30 Our girls got a slow start on the strong Orient team The girls trailed in all the game Cass was high scorer for Orient with 31 points Rechtenbach fouled out in the fourth quarter December 17 Fontanelle 31 Here Bridgewater 27 Bridgewater girls were defeated bv Fontanelle on our home floor e girls came back fighting the second half but were unable to gain the lead Miller of Fontanelle and Ahnen and Rechtenbach of Bridgewater fouled out January A Lewis bl Here Bridgewater 28 The strong Lewis team were too much for us The score at the half was 10 to 21 They made twice as many points in the second half as we did Moore tallied 22 points for Lewis 4 ' 1175 O , I . a up a tough fight and tried valiantly.
