There were nine of us who entered high school as poor green Freshnen and who spent the first week barping lnto the wrong rooms in search of our class We were Laura Cron, Sherry Gionle, Elma Rechtenbach, farie Raasch, Ruth Raasch, Joann Warrior, Lonnie Scott, D1ck Pcrorran, and Pamor Rechtenbach Piss TcKahan lS our class sponsor and we elected officers as follows President Toann 'arrior V1ce Presldent Lonnle Scott Secretary Treasurer Narie Raasch Reporter Ruth Raasch One of the outstanding events of our freshman year was tle inltiation to the Senlors In the evenlng the rlrr school was invited to a party, at Wl1Ch we furnished the entertainment, spurred on by the paddle wieldlng Sen iors We are now awaitlng our senlor year when we wlll have a chance to use the paddles o the ooor freshles of '52 The subgects whlch we are taking this year are General Sclence, orld History, Erglish I, and Algebra The entire class part1c1pated in sports except Laura Cron who was unable to play basketball due to a broken arn Sherry Gipnle and Wlma Rechtenbach were on the girls basketball squad and Lonnie Scott and Dick Iclorran were managers for the boys squad 'QW Junior High had an enrollment of 13 during the year, but Dorls Poore moved away at Christmas time, leavlng an enrollment of 12 They were Larry Bauer, Frank Cole, Jacquelyn Day, Ruth Garside, Lewis Giople, rarlene Khlep, Paul Prichard, Edward Sshrader, and Iorma Slnner all in the eighth grade Sally Campbell, Dean Cass, and Kay Giople in the seventh grade Our teacher was Mrs Nurriel Shatava In the carnival program we presented a musical number, 'Sunbonnet Sue W All State pupils tests were given January ll We were hosts to rural students from Washington and Jackson townships In February we had a picture contest judged on originality, neataess, mounting, and coloring The winners were Kay Gipple, rorma Sinner, and Sally Campbell Basketball was our main sport activity Our girls were included in the high school training program with Norma and Marlene making the squad wayne Hughes took over the coaching for our boys Although we didn't win all our games we did have fun Ruth Garside and Kay Glpole were chosen from our room to help Barbara cheer lead Current magazines found weekly on our reading table were the following Current Event, Young America, Junior Review,and Young Citizen as well as The Grade Teacher and Normal Instructor. Those chosen to represent our room in the spelling contest held at Green- field were Ruth Garside and Marlene Knieo. Marle1e and Kay kept a perfect spelling record throughout the year. Marlene has had perfect attendance this year.Activities included parties and entertainlng our Mothers on St.Patr1cks Day.
