QYQSKD Sfigforqa In the fall of 1937 six little boys and girls marched up the hill and became 'students' We were Evelyn Showers, Dean Rechtenbach, Dorothy Roos, Francis Stewart, Richard Williams, and Joy Cole Of these six, only Dorothy and Joy have gone through the twelve years together Lois Walton guided our footsteps the first year Unfortunately Francis Stewart moved away leaving only five in our class The next year we found ourselves in the second grade with Jessie Brown as our instructor Evelyn Showers moved away during our third year and we also lost Dean Rechtenbach Delores Ruch and Wayne Hughes joined us this year so we still had five in our class We soon were in the fourth grade with a different room and a new teacher, Winifred Long Vera Wollenhaupt was our instructor in the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades In our eighth year, Mrs Arthur Jones was our teacher During this year Richard Williams moved to Vinton We had the usual number of parties every year Valentine, Halloween, Christmas, etc I'm sure we'll always remember those dear old school days After going through the usual trials and tribu lations of elementary students quarrels, pranks and punishments, appearing in programs scrubbed and shining in new dresses and ribbons, long pants and ties, here came eighth grade graduation We each received blue diplomas and were we proud High School here we come ' Our sponsor in our Freshman year was Mrs Gertrude Patterson During this year we were merely 'green' and didn't ac complish anything of great importance Those in our class were Delores Pfundheller, marilyn Schrader, Tom McDermott, Dorothy Roos, Joy Cole, Wayne Hughes, Marllyn Williams, and Delores Ruch Our sponsor in our Sophomore year was Robert Preston Marilyn Williams left us this year, decidlng to continue at Greenfield The main event in our Junior year was our class play, 'Chintz Cottage,' Oh, the things that took place during that class play We definitely learned still had our original eight We also got our class rings this year, of course they were the finest to be found Iws Laura Bailey, who was our sponsor helped us plan the Junior Senior Banquet The banquet was held at the Iowana Hotel in Creston The dining room was decorated with bright crepe paper and in one corner was a small windmill with a rock garden around it The table had one long row of blrght colored tulips All these effects were used to bring out the theme of our banquet, Holland At the beginning of our Senior year we had sever in our class, Marilyn Wllliams havirg moved The initlatlon of the Freshmen was our first under taklng We found it great fun for us but we feel the poor Freshmen thought differently The high school annual was our special project during the year The highlight of the year was our skip day We went to the Drake Relays and had a very enjoyable time Our Senior Class Play, 'Rainbow Cottage', was held at the close of the year we will always be grateful to our parents and teachers for making it possible for us to arrlve at thls iunction of our educational career O what the words 'ad lib' meant.
