Hrstory of the Class of 1925 Wrth keenest rntrerprtron but wobblv uncontrollable knees we rorned the happv brnd rn the rssenrhlx room September 1 1921 In number we were a promrsrng group of twenty hve and from all reports we drd a royal rob of entertamrng our beloved upper elrssmen Fond memorres of rnrtratron strll lrnger wrth us but we struggled through somehow wrth Mrss Gearhrrt at the helm We ehose as rnsprra tronrl leaders whom we retamed for three years Hugh Owen, Presrdent, Don Br relford Vree Presrdent, Henderson Peek Treasurer, Katherrne Kaemmerer Sec retrrx We responded to the sportsmanshrp sprrrt whreh rergned supreme and were well represented rn deelrmatorv athletres and socrrl events After r reeuperatrng vaeatron and a perrod of reerertron whreh we needed badly we irled rnto our seats wrth radrant faces and the faculty looked us over wrth a nod rnd snrrle of satrsfactron It was our turn to rnrtrate the Freshres but owrng' to the general symprthetrc feelrng exrstrng throughout the elass we drd not greatly rnjure them Mr Drekey was our pal and advrsor and though the battles raged around and rmong us we always managed to come out on top Just elose your eves and prcture rgarn that old frmrlrar smrle whrch generally broadened rnto a grrn accompanred bw r sl rp on the knee and thrnk Those were the good old days The trmes when we g rthered round hrnr to plot and plan for the future Then Senror Day came and we wrllrnglx aeeepted the dutres of a program commrttee Fhrs was one of the most ewentful days of our Sophomore year Our Junror year was the begrnnrng of a new era and for the first trme we felt the need of elass co operatron Now as newer before we enjoyed numerous class sports and prrtr s wrth growrng enthusrasm Our pulses throbbed wrth the one thought preparatron for the comrng Banquet rn honor or the Senrors for as usual we were broke and means of earnmg monev was a subject for drscussron However we decrded to grve a play and wrth the untrrrng efforts of Mr Drckey we produced the Hoodoo to a hoodooed audrcnce and earned some money wrth whrch to begrn work on the Banquet It was hard labor but we cannot thrnk of rt wrthout ack nowledgrng that through rt we gleaned some golden frrendshrps and learned the hrgher qualrtres of our fellow classmen Then how we planned to spend the money so recently errned As the nrght drew near we concluded wrth renewed and feverrsh rnterest to put on the fmrshrng touches The Nrght of Nrghts arrrved and everyone dressed rn therr best rewarded our efforts by engoyrng themselves We were kept busy from then on decoratmg 'r pathway for the Senrors as they prepared to close therr school lrfe at F H S A few short weeks and at the trme when the leaves turn golden brown rn the fall we felt ourselves drrftrng rnto the two rows on the east srde generally occupred by the Senrors We began our new work unfalterrngly lrned up wrth determrnatron for we rerlrfed how rncompetent and how dumb we really were Wrth a whrrl we were swung rnto the hum of a Senror s lrfe Then sprrng came and the Banquet cl rss play, Senror Du Baccalaureate Commencement County Play Day and Alumm crowded upon us But to us rt was a golden pathway full of sunshrne and good cheer We here express our gratrtude to our teachers M Stewart, our Senror ad xrsor 'mel Mrss N rtlke our prrncrpal and all the rest We owe to vou all the deepest rppreerrtron our hefrrts e rn grwe and hope th rt vou have been proud of us To our clrssnrates rnd all we grve one srncere- wrsh that your future at I' H S may be spent as ple santly md profrtably 'rs our past has been wrth vou lorth we wrll go, bearrng our motto hrgh Not the Sunset but the Dawn for The courage and the strength rt gave The Blrck 'rnd Gold shall ever wave Adreu' Anna Per rx O ' 'F 'V' 1 ' Z ' , , 7 ' 2 5 ' ' 'V' P , ' , .
