LEAVELL, VVeyers Cave pitching ace, and Augusta County League star will find his duty divided between twirling the old pill and chasing flies in the held. CRJXUN is holding down second in his usual form. Craun clouts the agate for a good average as well as to break up niany rallies. GLICK has retained his position at short. Though Glick is not a strong hitter, his fielding makes him necessary for the squad. PENCIL XNevers Cave lumber wart, is holding down the initial . - . 1, b . . sack and covering lots of territory. bo far he has tailed to use l11s battin' eye. CUPPE is lighting with lots of pep. He hails from Centerville as a part-sider and very likely will do some pitching. KIRACOFE is iielding well and is covering a good acreage. He has a good eye for the apple at the bat. MATHIAS, regular third sacker, has not been given a show as yet, but since he did line fielding and creditable hitting last year, We 'feel that he will go as strong as ever when he gets a chance. A. LONG. lleet-footed outlielder, has been hooking in some fine ones this year. XV hen we want a bunt Arlie does that too. R. LONG, loppy Joe. comes from XVeyers Cave where he performed well. His ability will give hini a position on the pitching staff. O. lXlQ'lLLER, Southpan, has also won a position for mound duty. He has a mean one to kill. VVRlGHT is as unconcerned as ever, but he gets them in the old-fashioned way that makes Briery Branch sluggers. PAYNE, lazy boy, has not showed his usual stride. Yet he has good possibilities as pitcher, Helder, and hitter. KINZIE is to be congratulated on his schedule. HUMBERT - - Secretary-Tvvasurc: Interest in tennis has been increasing year by year. Early in the fall of this year, a Tennis Club was organized. Due to the effective work of this club, several important advances have been made in different lines. One of the Hrst things it put across was the improvement of the tennis courts. This was a much needed improvement, and was necessary for the best in- terests of the sport. Due to this organization also, the playing of tennis has been regulated to a certain extent, so that the courts are not monopolized by a few. ln general, the organiza- tion of this club has served to increase the interest in tennis. The girls are showing their interest by planning a tourna- ment, to be held in the spring. Plans are being made by the boys for two inter-collegiate matches-one with Blue Ridge Col- lege, and one with A.M.A. Frank Cline came out winner again in the cup tournament held last fall. Y W, ,,, , Y V ..., A Parting Word As we approach the last of our college days we are overwhelmed with a strange feeling-a feeling of sadness mingled with one of joy. NVe have a feeling of sadness at the thought of leaving our Alma Mater. One cannot but regret the ending of 'four years of happiness such as those experienced in college. Though there has been hard work to do, and many burdens to bear, yet our happy associations together, and the other joys oi college life stand out preeminently, and Fill us with sorrow at the thought of leaving. Wie would like to go on and on, in our pleasurable' search af ter Truth. But no! something within us tells us differently. VVe remember that we are among the chosen 'few who have the privilege of attending college. Then we think of the years of toil and sacrifice which have made possible this privilege. Wle think of those dear ones who have provided for us this four years of happiness which was in many eases denied to them. And as we think, our hearts are Filled with a feeling of joy-joy which comes from anticipating the tremendous opportunities and responsibilities which are waiting for us. VVe become eager to set forth to meet them-to set forth to make glorious the work of those who have gone before, by using what they have given us, so that we may hand down to the next generation a heritage even greater than that given us. As we go forth from Bridgewater, we leave our best wishes with all who remain. We shall ever have deep concern for the interests of our Alma lX'l,ater. Xkfhat it has given us can be repaid only by an honest effort on the part of each of us, to immortalize the ideals which have been im- parted to us. As we say farewell, we pledge ourselves to this task. Page Eighfjl-,YL'i'l'll ,CU ' .,, .
