McKEEN Along the Golden Streets, a stranger walks tonight, With wonder in her heart, faith blossomed into sight. She walks and stops and stares, and walks and stops again, Vistas of loveliness, beyond the dreams of men. She who was feeble, weak, and shackled to her bed, Now climbs eternal hills with light and easy tread - She has escaped at last, the cruel clutch of paing Her lips shall never taste its bitter cup again. Oh! Never call her dead, this buoyant one, and free, Whose daily portion is delight and ecstasy! She bows in speechless joy, before the feet of Him, Whom, seeing not, she loved, while yet her sight was dim Along the Golden Streets, no stranger walks today, But one who, long homesick, is Home at last to stay! MR. WILBUR O. BRADBURY Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the Bar When I put out to sea, For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face, When I cross the bar. s. From that date and for many years later it was a hobby of many people to go down to the station and watch the passenger trains come and go. By doing this, the people who followed the hobby could tell pretty well the people who would be leaving town and those who were just returning from a journey. Today all this is gone. Thus, in a short space of a little over fifty years, a new helpful innovation entered our lives and is gone, indicating a time of rapid change. Yesterday morning the people in these United States watched while Ranger Nine sent back pictures of the moon, justbefore it crashed on the lunar surface. What a feat! Yet, is this just a feat? Or, is it, like the passenger service, something that will become commonplace in a few short years? We are told that boys and girls who are in school today will find it necessary to work at tasks that do not now exist. We are also told that ten years is the half life of an engineer. That means that half of the knowledge that a scientist learns today will be outdated ten years from now. Change! Rapid change? Bridgewater Classical Academy was incorporated as an Academy in 1907. It has already changed from an Academy to that of a high school. Right now there is a study in this school union relative to the forming of a larger school district. If the contents of this study look attractive to the citizens of the towns in this union, this may be the last year that this school will operate. It is easy to see that our educational institutions have a two-fold duty to each pupil. They must train the pupil to cope with present day problems and our present day mode of living. They must also prepare the pupil to make necessary adjustments to any new innovation that enters our work-a-day world. If the status of your school should change within the next few years, it is for the purpose of making it easier and possible for your teachers to prepare you to cope with these new avenues of life. Whatever your work may be or wherever your path may lead, I offer you my best wishes. We will always remember each carefree, happy day, And in memory's book we'll treasure most, our years at B. C. A. To our teachers may we say, most of all, thank youg May your wisdom guide our thoughts in everything we do. And may happiness linger with you every day. May the storms of life pass right on by and sunshine light your way. The unknown future lies aheadg we know not what it holds. We do know that we are prepared whatever it unfolds, Now may guidance and blessing come from him on high, And keep you ever in it's light, Old B.C.A. Good Bye. NAME P. Allen E. Bartley B. Bradbury J. BACK, L. to R.: Boyd, Ronnie, and Bobby. Billy and Sherry Being a smashing success, the magazine campaign contributed much in the way of funds to the school this year. May we take this opportunity to congratulate those who worked so industriously to help obtain the high goal reached. Without the unselfish aid of the maga- zine staff, we could never have at- tained such recognition for our school. .S. Initiation Thursday, April 29, 1965 As in past years, the National Honor Society initiated its new members at a candle- light ceremony in the B.C.A. gymnasium. The Society had to accept the assistance of four past members in order to follow the traditional induction ceremony. The past members who helped the two senior members, Sherry McKeen and Mary Hogan, were Robin Beattie, Robert Boyce, Bonnie Stackpole, and Stuart Welch. The new members who had the honor of being the last students to be initiated into the Bridgewater Chapter of the National Honor Society were Launa Beals, Brenda Billings, John Sargent, Charlene Stiles, Emily Tapley, Connie Tilly, and Bill Yerxa. We hope that next year's society at Mars Hill will never lack members as ours did this year in putting on their induction ceremony. We want to wish this club the best al- ways and hope they succeed in measuring up to the four letters on the N.H.S. em- blem, which are SCHOLARSHIP, LEADERSHIP, CHARACTER, and SERVICE. Refreshments were served after the initiation by the junior members: Vella Bradstreet, Dbnna Cook, Cynthia Grass, Diane Kingsbury, and Cherry Kenny. Sponsored by A. M. STACKPOLE I r.
