A Front Row--Carl Ames, Philip Jeffries fcaptainl, William Hartman, Hershel Mas- sey, Max Wolverton and Wayne Ames Cinsertl. 3BaszhaII The Old Gold and Black was represented by one of the best baseball teams it has ever known, Winning six games out of eight. We opened the season with a victory over Fontanet 10-3. We lost the next game to the strong Mecca nine, 5-2. But this was balanced by defeating them in the tournament. We played the next two games at home winning from Rockvile 5-0 and from Rosedale 12-1. We went to Bellmore October 2 and defeated' them for the first time in five years, 5-3. By winning this game We were permitted to play in the county tournament where we defeated Mecca 3-2 and Rockville 8-3. The following Saturday we lost the county championship to the strong Montezuma team with a score of 8-2. Much credit for the success of the team is due to the untiring efforts of the coach, Sam Valentine. The captain and first-baseman must not be forgotten for all those home runsl We must praise the whole team for its Wonderful co-operation and especiallythe battery, Wolverton and Mich. Basket 381111 Bridgeton High School enjoyed a very successful season in basket- ball. Our team was the best we have had for several years, Winning more than half of its games.
