The Big Maroon football squad of l95l will go down in history as one of the finest teams of all times at B.H.S. The Bulldogs rolled up seven victories against only one setback while copping the County Champion- ship and a co-championship of the South Iersey Group IV crown. Bridgeton's gridiron aggregation started the sea- son by nipping Simon Gratz of Philadelphia, 7 to 5. Against Atlantic City on October 6, they suffered a heart-breaking 25-24 loss for their only setback of the year. The boys quickly rebounded against a new rival, P. S. DuPont of Wilmington, by giving them a 27-to-O bouncing. Coach David Shapiro's squad then met a very formidable Collingswood eleven in one of the hardest fought games of the year. The Garnet won out on a last-minute desperation pass to climax this exciting contest which left many boys battered and bruised, a result of the hard, clean blocking and tackl- ing. Victories over their arch rivals, Vineland and Millville, gave the locals the County-Crown, a title held by Millville in 1950. The Bulldogs then traveled to Camden to play the Purple and Gold's unbeaten team. The locals en- tered the game as underdogs but the final result had them in the lead by two touchdowns. Only Camden Regional stood in the way of the Bulldogs' best year since 1947. The final score read 38 to 0 in favor of the home team. 5 U C I .t Q' - f -1 1 ' 4 Wendall Lloyd is shown catching a pass in the Vineland game which the Bulldogs won, 13 to 6. rivals, Collingswood. on a last minute desperation pass. BACONIA Turning the pages of our Almanac, we, the seniors of 1952 realize the effort cmd time put forth to make this the distinguished yearbook that it is. To all those who have aided us in any way we express our most sincere gratitude. From the time of the first falling leaves, we have been guided in our Baconian activities by our capable yearbook adviser, Mr. Marchand. As fall faded into winter, Mr. Marchand, always understanding and willing to help, has patiently advised us in all our problems. With the blooming of the first spring flowers, the 1.952 Almanac has taken form. Now with a feeling of satisfaction and deepest appreciation it is to you, Mr. Marchand, that we say, Thank you, for a job well done. Our expressions of thanks would not be com- plete, however, if we failed to recognize the wcrk and untiring interest contributed to this publication by Dr. Katherine Loder. Although the sands of time flow on, we will always remember the friends who made this, our Baconian , possible. ADVISOR Mr. Arthur Marchand 42
