il W2 fl LEFT TO RIGHT: Mr. Howland H. Mulford, Mr. Ralph K. Moore, Acting Secretary: Mr. Alex Morvay, Mr. George Maier. III, President: Mr. Amon P. Martin, Mr. Francis Sharp. Vice President: Mr. Ellsworth H. Griner. UR EDLICATIO AL PRGGR M . board of education Year in, year out-fall, winter, spring, and summer-there is a group of people extremely interested in the Bridgeton public schools. Barely do the students see these individuals at work, but the results of their efforts are omnipresent. The senior class is most appreciative of the services rendered to them and to the other students by the Superintendent and the Board of Education. All appointed members of the Board of Education but one are graduates of Bridgeton High School: Mr. Maier, Mr. Morvay, Mr. Sharp, and Mr. Griner. Mr. Martin moved to this community from Maine some time ago. All are parents of children either enrolled or to be enrolled in our schools. They therefore have past, present, and future interests in the welfare and progress of the student population of Bridgeton. The responsibilities vested in these men are many. They must direct into proper channels funds for buildings, textbooks, salaries, and repairs. They must secure for us qualified teachers and sponsors for our extra-curricular activitiesg they must maintain adequate classroom space and see that we have available a library, auditorium, gymnasium facilities, cafeteria, and guidance program. They must provide material comforts such as heat, lights, and water. They must see that our schools meet the standard set by the State Department of Education and the aca- demic and professional schools to which Bridgeton High School graduates apply for admission. Their obligations to us are manifold. Membership of the Board changes gradually each Ianuaryp as the term of one member expires, another representative from the businesses and industries of our community is named by the mayor to fill the vacancy. The member most recently appointed to the Board is Mr. Amos Martin, who replaces Miss Mary Streets. For the work the Board has done in our behalf in the past, we express the appreciation of our classmates. For their contributions in time and in interest all during the year we are grateful, confident in the knowledge that the same kind of services will be maintained for oncoming classes.
