MISS ESTHER BACON When we are brought up wrth thmgs that do exrst 1t IS drffrcult to reahze that there were trmes when these thrnqs drd not exrst and a trme when someone had to launch new undertakrngs We do honor to those men and women who have been proneers tn scrence medrcrne and government Schools also had therr proneermg people Not many years ago B H S had no extra cumcular actlv 1t1es except sports Now we have many Mxss Esther Bacon started these for us The Drama Club ln 1920 the trrst school paper Maroon and Whrte rn 1920 the trrst debat 1ng club and the hrst lrbrary durlng 1923 24 She also took over productron of the Yearbooks executlng both busmess and lrterary work When 1t became 1mposs1ble tor Mlss Bacon to adv1se all the clubs she was an advlser for the advrsers MISS Bacon possessed a cheerful and opt1m1st1c dls pos1t1on was an untlrrng worker and a true frlend to all Perhaps her greatest characterlstrc was her abllrty to be the person behrnd the scenes who drd not get the credrt but drd the work She loved teachmg 1t was her hte She took great satrsfactron rn seerng thmgs well done Her death occurred rn 1929 In 1937 the yearbook was named for Mrss Bacon to make a permanent monument for the work she had done The memor1a1 plaque was also erected ln the lrbrary by the teachers as a trlbute to her untxrmg devotron to our school 11' ku gvrrfkj' fr eff 'ik r. . . . 1 1 1 1 - 1 11 . 11. . . 1 1 1 - ' 1 ' - 1 1 1 1 - 1 .
