This has leant that our small and inexperienced classmen have had to carry the team for the past two seasons. To our credit, we've stayed in there even though some pretty tough licks. Our day will come again. We're looking forward to '85. 1. Go Ed Go!! 32 33 4. Charge!! Michele Bolzer This season Mas one of the most successful in several years. The team finished with a record or 17 wins and 6 losses. Four school team records and two individual records were broken. The leader- ship of the Seniors on the team was an important factor in the success of the team. Those six players will be missed next year. We will have a good nucleus for next year, however with four play- ers returning who had a lot of playing time. It was a privelege to be able to work with this team because they worked hard both on the floor and in the classroom. This team has set a high standard for the basketball program in the future. What shall we do next? I feel I am making a real contribution because I introduce the offence and many defensive concepts to our rookie ball players. This year the freshman played some outstanding ball games and I feel they will make some great contributions in the future. Hard work and persistence will pay big dividends for them. Our teai in 1985 was a team that provided a lot of excitement and enter- tainment for our school. We were never totally out of any game and made an outstanding accout of ourselves in post-season tournament play- 1 am proud of this group and I feel they exceeded my expectations and maybe even their own expectations. There was a lot of enthusiasm and very little experience. As the year progressed, the enthusiasm stayed and the experience was gained. There were no other teams in our district to play so we played the four teams in our area that did have teams. Red Lodge, Shepherd, Billings and Laurel. In order to play 12 matches to be seeded at Divisional Tourna- ment, we played Red Lodge twice a week. The team worked very hard on technigue and playing good volleyball . Based on improve- ment on skills, teamness, and hard work the season was a success! Coach Berge 41 Vanessa, you can jump higher than that! HIGH SCHOOL TRACK c 3 ,.. ■ .. The girls took third at District, 4th at Divi- sional and tied for 9th at State. The boys won District (third year in a rou). Southern Division- al (third year in a row) and were second at State. We have really enjoyed working with this bunch of athletes and will deeply miss the fol- lowing seniors: Connie fredrickson, Konni Hoff, Cara Grisso, Wendy Saarela, Jerrie Stringer, Lisa Mudd, Naja Hok, Shawn fishbaugh, Troy Wagner, Kim Poole, Mike Kelsey and our manager. The 7th grade Finish- ed the season with a 6 win 3 loss record and 8th grade Finished with 6 wins and 4 losses.' Both teaas showed a lot oF iaprove- ■ent over the year. I will really aiss working with the 8th grade girls next year, but it will be interesting watching thea de- velop into a chaapionship teaa in high school. I felt ny major goals of teaching fundamentals that are used in high school plus having kids play basketball as well as have fun were achieved. The eighth grade had a much more successful season than their 4 win - 7 loss record showed. In that record we saw two lost by one point and also saw some super wins when the boys play- ed as a team. There will be some great ball players com- ing out of this group if they continue to work on the ba- sics and teamwork. The seventh grade posted a 4 win - 4 loss season. I was also very proud of these seven boys because there were some who had played very little ball until this year. All of them improved tremendous- ly and worked well as a team. I am looking forward to watch- ing both groups progress as Bridger High School basket- ball players. J.R. HIGH TRACK 2 Cory Haraan lets go with a good toss. Starting in August with the Carbon County Fair, the chapter captured several awards including a first place in FFA Beef Showaanship taken by Nike Kelsey. Later that oonth we participated in the Yellow- stone Exhibition in Billings with several crops and shop entries and our booth on waiting barley. The produce froa our suaaer garden was donated to soae of the senior citizens of the coaaunity. Soae of our aeabers attended a leadership confer- ence in laurel to learn various skills and tech- nics. Three aeabers represented us at the Nile Livestock Judging and we also sent a livestock and aeats teaa to 8ozeaan's «inter Fair. We fulfilled our contract with the Forest Service to collect 24 bushels of Oouglas Fir and Lodge- pole pine cones for seed and reforestation. Our fruit sale was a sucess again this year and helped us raise the funds to go on our national trip to Kansas City and the National Convention. On our way to Kansas City we toured Hount Rushaore, the Truaan Library, the Eisenhower Li- brary and the Corn Palace. W al o went throunh all three John Deere factories. Our Chapter speaking contest went very well with 16 coapet- itors all froa Bridger Vo-Ag classes. We took a day off froa school and went on three field trips: Spencers Feed Lot in Froaberg, Bif Sky Genetics by Laurel, and the Stillwater Fur Fara where they raise fox and aink for their pelts. Our chapter sponsored an eleaentary school poster contest during FFA week in which the youngsters aade agricultural posters. A prize was awarded to the best one. Our chapter also participated in the district contests such as public speaking, parliaentary procedures, aechanics, livestock, fara aanageaent, and green hand. We then sent a teaa to the State Convention in Great Falls to coapete in the aechanics, livestock, fara aanage- aent, and agronoay contests. We built a reading booth for the eleaentary school and are in the process of coapleting the baseball concession stand and garbage dispensers for downtown. Next year we will be attending the Oenver Livestock Show for our national trip. 57 FHA Back row L R: Susan Glass, Alisa Bolzer, Oanette Stern, Melissa Ostwald, Randy Parker, Debbie Zentner, Annette Althoff, Wes Berry. That's gross Suz: Don't spill it Sandi! What's that look for? As Co-President of this organiza- tion I can honestly say that I had a great tine! Being a part of this organization gave ae a chance to get to know and respect a lot of ay under-classaen. Shawna Thielaan and I had a great tine presiding over these kids . The group that we had this year was saall, but we all had fun and learned quite a lot about each other and FHA. Our group was also very young this year and I think this gives thea a treaendous head start on preparing things for the state convention next year. We had a very organized club and we all knew what we were doing... aost of the tiae!! In March we attended workshops of the State FHA Convention in Billings. The workshops were very helpful in teaching us soaething we didn't already know such as self-defense, color analysis, eating disorders and shaping down (dieting). I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and I wish all of you the best of luck next year. Grisso The 1984-85 school year for 8ridger Schools has once again proven that the guality of its students, staff, and patrons is second to none. As with life in general, there have been numerous obstacles to overcome, but because of unity in spirit and a common desire for excellence, Grid- ger Schools can continue to take pride in the fact that they're truly one of the best in the state. Each and everyone of us have a very impor- tant role in making ours the best school possi- ble, but perhaps the most important ingredient is in the pride the students take towards making that endeavor a reality. I therefore, challenge all of us to continue to work towards those things that will continue to make our school . Larry Regnier, Elementary Principal and Superintendent It is already tomorrow. Time, which never stops on its journey, will pass before your eyes, and in only a few moments you will be the members of the community look- ing back on the years you spent at Bridger High School. When you do, the photos, facts, and memories in this book will be stepping stones to a happy reminiscence. In all, it has been a year of changes, adjustments, and progress. The progress has been in all aspects of school •life as we uniformly conti- nue to grow, to expand, and to work toward our ultimate goals. May your memories of Bridger High School be pleas- ant ones and may your futures be filled with happiness and success. Kith every wish for a bright tomorrow. 75 Betsy Gaylord, High School Principal Teachers School Help 1. John Biver: Grade 5 2. Dan Aadland: English and History 3. Janice Goetz: Library and Hath A. Where on earth is Bridger, or even Montana? Now it is hard to believe there was a tiie when I didn't know Bridger. Every street, every corner, every place has be- coie hoie. Bridger is ay town, old Bridger High iy school and the people are my friends. It has been a very intresting, very differ- ent year. Me— a city kid, wasn't use to The Big Sky , the wide open space, the aountains, the fields, or the very special saall-town and siall-school atiosphere, where everybody knows and talks about everybody else, but also where people are concerned and really care about each other. When I heard that the school had only a hundred kids I was first disappointed. How was I suppose to aeet all these gorgeous guys, and do all the exciting things I had seen in the ■ovies and dreait about? But as the tiie passed by I realized that it is not the size of the school, but the people within it that Batters. Both the students and the staff showed, froB the very first day, that they cared and wanted to get to know ie and ay country. They Bade ae feel that I belonged. A SPECIAL VISITOR The school systei and the whole attitude towards learning is very different froB ay school in Sweden. It took me a while to get use to it. I still don't think I ai, and even though I did learn a lot during classes, it was outside the classroom I really learned as I took part in the daily life. I learned about America, about siall town society, about ayself, about different cultures, and about life over all. It has been a great, exciting, fantastic year, but every loient has not been happy and sunny. I have been bored, hoie-sick, angry and scared. But when I look back, it is the good tiies I reieiber and treasure. I have changed a lot this year, and every one of you are responsi- ble for that. I want to thank you all. Thank you for accepting ie as one of you. Thank you for caring about ie. Thank you for Baking my year in the U.S. into a meiory I will keep for the rest of iy life. I wish lore people could share my experi- ence. Being a part of another culture, putting yourself into new situations, teaches you what life is all about. Everybody should at least think about being an exchange student, or take one into their hoies. Really, what do you have to lose---coipaired to what you will gain? Maja Hok N.P.
