Wes skies over the high juap. The 1984 track season turned out to be a very success- ful one. At the beginning of the season I figured this would be a rebuilding year after losing nine Senior boys and Anna Saarela to graduation but the Scouts and Scoutettes caae through again. Under the leadership of Hark Tilstra the boys repeated as District and Divisional chaapions and placed ninth at state. The girls, under the leadership of Kathy Brookshier placed thrid at District and Divisional and placed tenth at state.Next year I look for the Scouts and Scoutettes to be very strong. We have soae outstanding athletes coaing back who are already Baking goals for theaselves for next year. This year the girls broke nine school records and the boys broke three school recrods. Watch out next year because the record board will change again. Coach Fishbaugh, Asst. Coaches McConnell 6 Noerkerke Bridger track leibers enjoy the sun y. The 1984 Junior High track season was a great success with the 7th and 8th grade boys taking either first or second in every meet and the girls placing 1,2 or 3 in each of their meets. The eighth grade boys also brought home a trophy from the Joliet Invita- tional meet. Several school records were broken: Shane Hutzenbiler in the 100 meter hurdles, Eddy Royce tossed the discus 124 feet, Danny Weisgerber in the 100 meter hurdles, Keven Mudd, 800 meter run, Ty Schwend, 400 meter run and the 7th grade relay record was also broken. New girls records were set by Billie Little, discus, Ronda Ragland, hurdles, Tricia Moerkerke, 800 and 1600 meter run, and the girls relay team set new records in both the 400 and 800 meter race. A lot of hard work went into this years season and, although the snow storm robbed us of one meet, the results show a strong future for the Scout track teams.
