After having a successful year in Conference play, the Scouts won the right to meet Colstrip for Semi-Southern Divisional. Upon their winning the Colstrip game, they advanced to meet Sacred Heart of Miles City for Southern Divisional Championship. Even though the Scouts lost a hard fought ballgame, the Student Body and the town of Bridger are all proud of the goals they attained! 38 Scouts Action District Champions Second Year In Row Rex Buehring f Harold Schober Bob Temple Semi-Southern Divisional Champions Also Ron Gonzales Rick Sanford Harold Jackson Herb Kelsey Larry Skorupa Tom Kaiser 41 Basketball LEFT TO RIGHT: Wayne Lowry; Manager, Mike Kidwell, Bud Kroll, Lon-Sanford, Gerry Ulrich, Tom Kaiser, Gary Colley, Lonnie Schwend, Kevin Teesdale, Ron Gonzales, Rex Buehring, Dave Kroll, and Coach Kaiser. The Scouts had a very successful year, coming up from a 4th place in the conference to vie for 3rd place with Joliet in the district tournaments. After this hard fought victory, they challenged Belfry for 2nd place and successfully won their way to divisional. Here the Scouts did equally well by first defeating the favored Broadview, then Busby, and then by almost upsetting Edgar—a high set goal. Never-the-less, the Scouts qualified for State and came home with the honors of 4th place. Bridger's pride rode high for this great team. After all, 4th place in the State of Montana isn't so bad. 42 Another lay-up for Bud. Two points for Lonnie. Scouts In Conference Play. Jump! Put it in Lon. They placed second in the district meet and fourth in the divisional. Then two boys, Lonnie Schwend and Ron Gonzales went to the State meet. Lonnie returned home with a third place in the discus throw and a fourth in the broad jump. 47 Girl’s Track The girl's track team, coached by Mr. Kaiser, competed in a number of track meets with Joliet and Fromberg. Overall the girls had a very successful year, bringing home many ribbons. 48 Bridger Wiped Out Belfry Parade led by the cheerleaders.
