BHSHETBHH TEHIH FIRST ROW: Butch Gaines, Walter Sanderson, Robert Carrier, William Cardwell. SECOND ROW: Coach Cardwell, Bobby Leathers, Phil Redmon, Henry League, Blake Mitchell, Roy Peach, Donald Johnson, Whitey Willard, Roy Parker, James I-lankins, Leon Sudduth, Joe Pat Gaines, Donald Jones, Douglas Leathers, Billy Powers, Edgar Leathers, Manager Billy Hoskins. Coach Lapsley Cardwell's Bridgeport Tigers gave the fans some exciting thrills during the 1952-53 season. Out of the 21 games played, the Tigers won eleven and lost several by a one-point margin. High Scoring players were Phil Redmon with 449 points, Donald Jones with 264, Donald Johnson with 184, James Hankins with 148, and Douglas Leathers with 143 points. The Tigers were runners-up in the Franklin County Tournament losing to Elkhorn in the finals by a score of 47-42. In the 41st District Tournament, Bridgeport lost the first game to Frankfort by a score of 77-67. At the conclusion of the District Tournament when the all-tournament teams were named, Brige- port was well represented. Phil Redmon, Sophomore, won a place on the first team and was awarded a gold basketball. Joe Pat Gaines, Senior, made the second team and received a silver basketball. The Bridgeport B Team made an excellent showing this season losing only one game during the regular season to Anderson County. The climax to this fine record came when the B Team won the championship trophy at the County Tournament.
