CLADS HISTORX To end an action packed and fully ati tying year the luni urs chose a trip to Rye Beach on lune 29 the last day of school The heighf of the mercury closely rix aled the spirit of thc class as they experienced the thrills and pleasu ts of the amusement park As the bus loads of weary and exhausted but completely contented teen agers started on their journey homewaro there was a feeling of elation over our past exp riences and a feeling of anticipation for our yea as seniors at Central The arrix al of September made us seniors at last' There seemed to be magic in that word' The school year was off to a brisk start with tae long awaited Senior trip to West Point' Hyd Park West Point and Bear Mountain Inn ma l Cctober 4 a day filled with laughter sight seeing cadets conga lines singing and gaiety to be forexer tucked into our treasure chest of memories November 21 marked another red letter day for the Class of 5 3 The Ritz Ballroom wa the scene of the first annual Central Harding Football Hop The dance couldn t help being 1 huge success with both schools putting as much energy and effort into friendly endeavors as they did into their famed rix alry This ventu e having proved that rivalry and friendship could go hand in hand drew many favorable cm mmen s from prominent citizens of the city Bellamy Partridge well known author a tended the performance of his play january Thaw which was presented in Centrals auditorium the evening of December 12 Dr McElroy again brought Broadway to Central in splendid fashion through this biennial production It is easy to remember the good things and those that bring laughter and delight but there is unwilligness to remember those that b ing grief and sadness Death three times claimed The Christmas Season brought with it the resignation of Dr Sides our principal This news stunned all and quieted the usually spir ted season Awnings' Balloons' Chinese lanterrs' Indians' Pirates' Could this really be Central gym? You wouldn t have recognized it the ex ening of February 19 when the Mardi Gras came to town' Thanks to Mr Feldman and the deco ating committee our gym became a street out of New Crleans The Mardi Gras proved that an activity held in the school could be as succes ful or even more so than one held elsewherc It was acclaimed as a progressive step in th history of the school The night May 8 the place the Ritz Ballroom soft dreamy music lovely floating gowns white dinner jackets Who will ever forget that truly enchanting evening the Serio Prom' May 18 the night of the Senior Banquet we found ourselves enjoying a delicious chicke 1 dinner at the Fairfield Inn Cur high spirits lended gaiety to our enjoyment of the clexc Class Prophecy and hilarious Class Will Dancing completed a gay evening This was like a bubble of good times just ready to burs Now all the laughing and joking was gon as we took our places in line gave our robes rl final tug and adjusted our caps for the last timc As the first strains of the Graduation Marcn echoed through he halls with a stately step the line began to moxe down the aisle This was Graduation Night june ll l953' For many nis was the final step before taking their places in life For some there were other goals mor years of study and preparation before emerginv as doctors lawyers scientists or businessmen Upon reaching the stage the realization came with a jolt that in just a few minutes tho c things done so often and the actixicies enjoy d so nacxch would forexer be referred to cherished memories '71 'N 'H '1 7 A, L Q .
