Un Octoher 22 the French Cluh attended the movie The Bakeris Wii'c or La Femme du Boulang:r at the Lincoln Theatre in New Haven. Over ninety stud' ents attended this picture which had heen playing on Broadway tor over a year. Madame Hawes, Miss Bushnell, and Miss Alosephine Terricciano, a new teacher in our language department, accompanied the ill-fllllw The iirst French asseinhly of the year was held Decemher 3, at which president Stanley Manasevit introduced Mr, Mac' vlannet, an American. who has lived in France for many years. An interesting talk was given on conditions of the refugee children in France after which motion pie tures ot' his camp were shown. ln peace- time it was used as a summer camp, hut due to the war, it was transformed into a haven for refugee children during the en' tire year. ln order to exist, it received wholehearted support from the Quakers ot America who have aided it financially. Five dollars was given to 'Mr Mactlannct hy the Frtneh classes. Un Decemher l? rli' Cercle Francais held a dance in the gym. Miss lrene Comer. local dancing teacher, provided the entertainment. .lean Connelly acted as general chairman assisted hy Edwin Half lich. ITALIAN CLUB The annual German Supper was held on December 18 at which a typical German meal was served. Dr. and Mrs. A. C Sides, Miss Marjorie P. Grant and Madame Hawes were guests at the time. The pro- gram consisted ofa Bible reading, a Christ mas play, singing of Christmas Carols, and a grahfhag. Memhers were privileged in that they gained a useful hackground of German literature, history, and music, in addition to learning the language. Early in Eehruary the Central auditorium was the scene of ll Carnevalef' a proiducf tion of the ltalian cluhs of Central and W.irreii Harding High Schools. Approprif ate music hy the orchestra created a carnival spirit. Under the direction of Miss Mary Colonnese, Miss .losephine Terricciano, and Miss Edith Metzger, the presentation was a success. Cast memhers were: john Esposito, Philip D'Ostilio, Rose Palmieri, Antoinette Clomiro, xlennie Ferrara, Agatha Napolif tana, Coneetta Martins, and Evelyn Bogash. ln Decemher the cluh held a Christmas party. The allair was handled hy a general committee of eluh memhers. The cluh's final activity of the year was a trip to Rye Beach, where the memhers en' ,toyed the amusement and picnicking tacilif ties ofthe park.
