L., the largest and one of the most active organizations of Central High School comes under the eflicicnt guidance if Miss Marjorie P. Grant. ln l94l the oilicers of the GSL. were: president, Betty Tierney: yicefprcsident, Louise Davidson' secretary. .ludy Carroll: treasurer, Alma Fischerg director of social servicc, Marion Holly: director of social activities, Constance lN1cElroy. Under the presidents care came the regular G. L, hoard meetings which were held every lvionday afternoon in Miss Grantis oihice. At these meetings new prohlcms were discussed. and old ones settled. lt was the presidentis responsif hility to sce that the Ushers' Guild and the A. B. C, D. were running efficiently. This year Susan Becker was ehosen Head Usher. Betty Raehurn directed the A. ll. C. D , an organization of girls who maintain order. direct tratiic, and promote sanitary condif tions in the cafeteria and lower corridors during lunch periods, The president presided over the assem' hlies at which service awards were given, and placqucs awarded to 1002 rooms. It was the duty of the vicefpresident to act as chairman of the reriresentatixe hoard The Merrie Scriveners, another hranch of the GSL., also came under the yicef presideiitis department. as well as the Lost and Found and the information Desk. This year janet Schultze headed the lnfor' mation Deskg jean Clark. the Nlerrie Scrivenersg and Katherine Koulouris, the Lost and Found. The secretary of the League had the G. S. L. Collecting and depositing dues. paying hills, and in general, taking care of the finances of the League! were the duties ol the treasurer. The director of social service had the niost important, and responsihle position in the League. This year the League sponsored the Sophomore Party which was a most out' standing success, At this party, the girls of the Sophomore class- had a chance to hecoine acquainted with other nieinhers of the class and also nteinhers of the faculty, The Silver Tea was a new feature in League work this year, This tea was given in honor of the Zith anniversary ot' Central High School. Governor Rohcrt A. Hurley, various city oihcials. and niein hers of the faculty attended, The greatest part of the success of this tea was due to the etlorts of Miss Katharine Fall, cooking in' structor, Another tea sponsored hy the League this year was the one given in honor of the senior girls and their mothers, This was one of their final activities. With service ever foremost in theii minds, the Girls' Student Leaguc will con tinue through the years to he Ready ol Head, of Heart, and ol' Hand, me 3 55 . as A. B. C. D.
