Friends are there when you need them They stand by you through bad and good. We tell them secrets that are never told We give them notes that have special folds. Friends come and go as they please They know we care, oh how they are missed. You have a friend like a sis She tells you everything, even her first kiss. Often friends fuss and fight. Quickly forgotten, true friendship. Friends are funny and a blast You have a sleepover and wish it could last. You never want to say good-bye. They must leave but to return — Friends. After participating in the fall year- book seminar, the staff learned what it takes to make an exciting yearbook. The staff sold ads, jewelry, and chances to win a ghetto blaster to raise money. These fund raisers allowed the staff to purchase a new camera and typewriter. At the end of the year, the staff was ready for a break. The staff decided to go to Frontier City, and they had a terrific time. 44 L«ft to right: Joni Ralston, Brandon Stuck . Miss Bowser. Tina Cline. Donita Cleveland. Justin Laird. Dena Johnson. Spirit was ad- ded to the halls by putting basketball emblems on each player’s locker. The club also sponsored a spirit day entitled “Hats off to the Bridge Creek Bobcats!” The student body participated by wearing hats to school to show their spirit. The Pep Club had a great year and had lots of fun supporting such winning teams. $ 46 B ck row: Cathy Oliver. Kandi Ford, Heather Dunn, Kim Gregory. Principal’s Advisory _______________Council This year with the Principal’s Advisory Council has been a very pleasant one. One boy and one girl were chosen from each of the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. They were recommended on the basis of citizenship, leadership, and scholarship. Each has performed his or her duties with great dedication. Membership has been an added respon- sibility rather than a privilege, and therefore indicates great concern for fellow classmates and our school in general. This year was the first year for this type of group, and many things had to be done. The council set about establishing a constitution to guide future council members. A great deal of time went into reviewing a student handbook, which our school has been lacking. This contribution along should be able to clear up many day to day problems encountered by all of us. The advisory council is directly responsible for the new display frame which will be installed this summer. Past class and athletic pictures will be mounted in these frames for all to see and be proud of. It has been my privilege and honor to have worked with such fine young peo- ple. The school should be greatful for their contributions. Jim Biles Front row: Brent Beson—member, Lynae Barney—member Middle row: Justin Laird—member. Dena Johnson —president. Back row: Brandon Jones—vice-president, Mr. Biles, Sarah Corff—secretary. 47 4-H The Bridge Creek 4-H club began the year by taking projects to the Grady County Fair. Several groups met throughout the year to work on their projects. Susan Murray, the OSU extension agent, came to B.C. spoke on the many activities in which 4-H is involved. In November, 4-H students attended an awards banquet in Chickasha, receiving several awards themselves. In the spring, 4-H students participated in a display fair. Aaron Smith Barry Hughes attended stock shows did very well. In May, 4-H students had a skating party to finish the year. Md ■ u -1 I 48 Back row: Shawna Riley. Jason Potts, Michael Saisman. Special Education Speech and language class included 44 students ranging in age from 5 to 13. Each one has been a “star student” hav- ing a turn to have their name and picture displayed on the class bulletin board. We want to get to know each other and em- phasize how special each and everyone is. Units of new vocabulary and study have included Family-Home-School, Food-Farms-Stores-Money, Animals, Bodies of Waters-Birds, Weather-Seasons-Time-Measurement. We’ve had an exciting year making new sounds and learning new words so that we may communicate better with others. 50 52 rMM jrrel COW£!' NOr “n Mrk' M,ke Conn€r Grovc - 09019 Shackelford. After winning the Pioneer and Bridge Creek tournaments, the greatest victory was taking the county tournament and ending the season with a perfect 22-0 record. The boys also won the Conference Cham- pionship. A special thanks to Coach Ward for taking the team out to eat pizza after the final victory. 53 This year the 7th 8th grade Lady Bobcats did very well. The season ended with an 18-3 record, losing only to Fort Cobb in the Oney Festival, Verden in the Pioneer Tournament, and Friend in a poorly played con- ference game. The team ended the season in grand style, beating Friend 25 to 21 for the gold in the County Tournament. The Lady Bobcats also finished first in the Bridge Creek Tour- nament, and won the Conference Championship. The team members worked hard and did well. The Lady Bobcats give thanks to the coach, Mrs. Patty Williams, who worked hard to make the team what it was. 54 B«ck row: Crystal Tootle. Melanie Darby, Kandi Ford. Sherry McDonald, Jeri Lippold. K-5 Lab Classes—Ms. Beaty In lab class we try hard to maintain an atmosphere that is con- ducive to learning. Each student in lab understands what is expected of them and they realize the importance of good study habits, pro- per attitudes and behavior, and respect for others around them. We try to build self esteem and make each student feel good about their accomplishments. Evey student is allowed to contribute something to the class. This may result in a story, a gift they’ve received, or just a nice experience. We strive to reach success in both small and large ways. Without success, they may develop a negativeness about themselves in school. We have worked hard in lab to attain our goals we set. Some will reach their goals, others will learn from their mistakes or wrong- doings. Whatever the outcome, we are still learning, and that s our Special Education 71 r rr f r i r Upper right: What a feeling! nu Middle right: We’re the reason God made Oklahoma ’’ Lower left: Won’t you be my neighbor? ’ Lower right: ‘‘It was right here?” A A Chris Chamblee Denee Craig Jennifer Crum Michael Ferry Chad Hunt Doug McKenna Sabrina Miller Timothy Parrent Daphne Peery Leah Richie Tamara Smith Darrell Weber Brandi N.
