David Allison has a 34- yard field goal to complete the scoring. Steve Watson leads the Buc's defense with 11 un- assisted tackles and 2 interceptions. Bucs win 10-0. Briarwood vs. Milton 36-6 Briarwood recovers 5 fum- bles and intercepts one pass en route to a 36-6 victory over Milton for Briarwood's second straight win. Bourn scores on a 1 yard dive and a 55 yard inter- ception. Bowen, Good- son, and Watson each score on pass receptions. Allison adds to the score with 1 field goal and 5 P.A.T.'s. Bucs take second victory, 36-6. 38 Briarwood vs. Stockbridge 45-6 Briarwood faces Stockbridge in a non-region contest. Bowen scores 3 touchdowns and Philyaw connects with Toler to make the score 28-0 going into halftime. Briarwood continues the rout the second half adding 17 points in- cluding an 85 yard punt return by Goodson. Allison kicks 5 extra points and a 43 yard field goal. The Buccaneer defense holds Stockbridge scoreless until late in the fourth quarter. This is Briarwood's third straight victory, 45-6. Briarwood vs. Lakeshore 26-6 Lance Bowen leads Briarwood's offensive show with a 55 yard touchdown run followed by a 8 yard touchdown run by Steve Bourh. John Philyaw connects with Steve Watson for an 18-yard score and Mickey Hodges goes over with a brilliant 52- yard run. Bowen finishes the game with 162 yards rushing in 20 carries. Bucs take victory 44, 26-6. Briarwood vs. Cherokee 41-0 Briarwood comes into a big game with a four game winning streak to rout a class AAA Cher- okee team. Mark Goodson leads the scoring with two touchdown receptions and 1 touchdown run. Bourn adds 12 points including a 55 yard punt return. Wolleat kicks 11 points with 5 extra points and 2 field goals. Bucs win an impressive victory, 41-0. Briarwood vs. iVl.D. Collins 21-0 Briarwood wins over Collins, 21-0, Homecoming night. Granath, Goodson, and Bourn all scored T.D. 's on short runs. Briarwood remains un- defeated and in contention for the tough 6-A region title. Bucs take 6th straight victory, 21-0. 39 Briarwood vs. College Park 13-13 Briarwood tangles with College Park in an important sub-region game. Briarwood strikes first with a Granath 1 yard plunge, but is unsuccessful in the extra point attempt. College Park re- taliates with 13 points. Briar- wood gains possession on its own 35 with just 1:42 left in the game. Bourn hits Goodson for 2 big pass plays, setting up Bowen's 1 yard touchdown. The extra point ties the game with only 15 seconds remaining. Briarwood's rally preserves an undefeated record with a 13- 13 tie. 5w Briarwood vs. Roswell 3-7 Spirits are high for Briarwood as they face top-ranked Roswell in a non-re- gion game. Roswell scores first on a 29 yard pass. Allison scores lone Brairwood points on a 36-yard field goal. The rest of the game is a de- fensive battle. Briarwood mans a 55 yard drive on 3 passes by Bourn to the Roswell 16, late in the game. But it is foiled by a Roswell interception. Roswell lands Bucs lst defeat, 7-3. Briarwood vs. Westwood 38-13 Briarwood draws first blood a- gainst the Vikings as Dave Allison boots a 25-yard field goal. It's the Bucs all the way, with Lance Bowen scor- ing from 13 yards out, Steve Bourn from nine, Jon Wolleat from one, and SteveWatson on a nine yard pass from Cliff lVlanus. Allison kicks 5 PAT's. Westwood scores twice in the second half, and the Black and Gold take another Sub-region victory, 38-13 Champions. Briarwood vs. Campbell 39-12. BHS and Campbell of Fairburh meet in an- other sub-region title game. The Bears score first, but Briarwood comes back. Watson recovers a fumble in the end zone, and Goodson scores from the one. The second half sees Goodson scoring again, along with Philyaw and Bowen. Wolleat kicks a field goal and Rutkowski adds a final touch with a safety. Briarwood repeats as Sub-Region Briarwood vs Roswell 13-3 Spirits are soaring as Briarwood attempts to win the 6-A Region Champion- ship. Briarwood strikes first on a 12-yard run from Wolleat. This is enough to win the game for Briar- wood, butAllison put in 2 field goals from 24 and 28 yards. Rosweil's only 1 score comes on a field goal in the fourth quarter. Briarwood comes away with its first Region Champion- ship, 13-3! Briarwood vs Commerce 7-21 Fresh from their first region cham- pionship, the Buccaneers face the Commerce Tigers. After a score- less first quarter, Bowen takes it in from 2 yards out and Briarwood f leads at halftime 7-0. The second 1 half sees an inspired Tiger team scoring twice in the third quarter and once in the fourth. Briarwood's most successful season ever ends, 21-7, with a record of 9-2-1.
