The Future Engineers had two vis- itors from Memphis State who showed slides on engineering while talking about the availability of jobs in the Memphis area. At one meet- ing, each member had to build a structure during a given period of time. The sponsor was Mr. Stan Peppenhorst. The Future Teachers Club was very busy this year. They had many guest speakers, including Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Perkins of the Briarcrest School System. The members learned of the qualifica- tions needed for teaching and that the most important ingredient is the love of children. Mrs. Velma Philips and Mrs. Ruth Gamble were the sponsors. puma- UNIOR CIVITA The Junior Civitan is an organi- zation for students concerned with helping the school and com- munity. They had two major pro- jects this year. Coloring books were taken to Le Bonheur Chil- dren's Hospital at Christmas and apples were given to the teachers for Teacher Appreciation Day. The sponsors were Mrs. Hendrix and Mrs. Booth. The speech Club is a club designed to pro- vide a means of learning for interested speech students. Their programs included touring Theatre Memphis, hearing a speaker from Barbizon School, and watching perform- ances of dramatic interpretation. They helped work on the crews of Blithe Spirit and Bye Bye Birdie and ushered for plays at Theatre Memphis. The sponsor is Mrs. Covington. Above, left: Linda Muse and Dana Prince in Blithe Spirit.
