puma- UNIOR CIVITA The Junior Civitan is an organi- zation for students concerned with helping the school and com- munity. They had two major pro- jects this year. Coloring books were taken to Le Bonheur Chil- dren's Hospital at Christmas and apples were given to the teachers for Teacher Appreciation Day. The sponsors were Mrs. Hendrix and Mrs. Booth. The Junior Humane Society is directly connected with the Mem- phis Humane Society. They are con- cerned with the welfare of animals, and because of this they had several fund raising projects to help support them. They also had several speak- ers throughout the year. The spon- sors were Mr. David Phillips and Mr. Wesley Highsmith. Row I: Betsy Panky, Lisa O'Neil, Allison Henson, Beth Noe. Row II: Leslie Parker, Donna Phillips, Mary Jones, Leslie Tull, Jeri Owens, Leslie Clance, Shelley Allen. For Christmas the girls made a food basket for a needy family, and in April they hon- ored the eight senior girls. The club enabled the squads to have a time together and share their experi- ences while having devotionals. They club sponsor is Mrs. Eve Joy- ner. The Future Engineers had two vis- itors from Memphis State who showed slides on engineering while talking about the availability of jobs in the Memphis area. At one meet- ing, each member had to build a structure during a given period of time. The sponsor was Mr. Stan Peppenhorst.
