Class History Just 1mag1ne' Twelve years ago we were Just startlng our school days Remember that day 1n 1943 when we were brouvbt to school oy our darlng parents? unsure,but MISS Lavlne gathered us together and lntroduced us be our classmates for the next twelve years Th1s was the bl It was a wonderfulyfar for all of us Edward Andrews Jerome Greenwell, Donald Karlen Helen Presta Hugo Schumann, Harold Most of us were so shy and to the new frlends who would est event ln our young llves Arrigo, Rose Betslnver Marleen Seamon Fayle Strobel Wayne Wa1te and Audrey Zelgler sa1d goodbye to M1ss Lavlne and were greeted by Mrs Gordon 1h the second grade Clayton Prlme moved away from BO0UV1116 Durlng th1s year we made the acqualntance of a new boy and glrl Rlchard Sage and Barbara Forand Barb and D1ck went w1th us to the thlrd grade By now we were thoroughly acqua1nted w1th the routlne whxch we were to follow for our f1PSt s1x years Mrs Wa oner helped us become acqua1nted w1th Thelma Daubach Shlrley Roberts and Toseph Roberts Our class had grown so large by th1s t1me that we had two teachers M1SS Allen and M1ss Iseneker d1v1ded us up w1th MISS Allen taklng the f1rst half of the alphabet and M1ss Iseneker tak1n the last half Clayton Prime returned and we were also Joined by Lew1S Dean, Betty Jackson, Edward Kurtsh and Beverly Stefhon Oh,smart children' Now we were flfth graders W Perry Seven new students were added to our class that Edwards Betty Grlfflth Shelly Ka1d1ng and Rose Thomas welcomed Maynard Mooney, Jean Petrle and Beverly Yelton the slxth Frade w1th NISS O'Hea and MISS Ruchtl Sally and we all passed 1nto the seventh grade were greeted by Mrs D3V1S and Mlss year M1ss Perry lntroduced Robert to us 'veterans' whlle Mrs Davls lnto the 'fam1ly' We pushed on to Brooks Jolned Mlss Rucht1's class At long last we were g1ven a room on the thlrd floor where we were lntroduced to MISS Beeman and Nr Roerer as our homeroom teachers We welcomed the add1t1on of Joanne Brooks Boy, we sure let the upper classmen know we were around the halls were full every 42 mlnutes w1th 'those horrlble seventh graders' We weren't anxlous to get to classes as everyone supposed the truth was we were afraid we would be late for a class Slnce we d1dn't know the 'ropes we cou1dn't afford to be late In the elghth grade we added Alda Hough to our rapldly gFOW1Hg ranks Alda was our f1rst 'forelgner' and her Vermont accent seemed too cute for anythlng Our Freshman year was wonderful We started the year out by Jo1n1ng together 1nto one class under kr Roemer as our homeroom teacher and adv1sor We started our soclal actlvities w1th a 'Freshman Hop' Our Sophomore year was pretty wonderful too We added Maryann Yacobell and Mary Ellen Carlberg to our fam1ly We presented Mr Sunshlne' talent show to earn money for our trlp, on June 4 when the whole class went to Albany Belleve us, lt wasn't easy to crawl out of bed at 5 OO A M or 4 O0 A or whatever hour it was most convenient to be at school at 6 O0 A M to start the long Journey br Torrens and Mrs south accompanled us on this tr1p 'We saw many educatlonal and 1nterest1n S1 hts The outstanding events of the day were our banquet at the 'Hub' in Duanesburg and getL1n lost in the big c1ty This trip concluded the Sophomore year Mr Torrens stayed w1th us for our Junlor year Our greatest event 1n th1s year was the arrlval of our class rings During the year we presented two one act plays 'whodunl and 'The Blue Stocking' d1rected,by Miss Angelakos We had a Junlor Dance and our Junlor Prom We were the f1PSt to hold our Junior Prom 1U the new gymnaslum The Prom was a great success In June we gave the Senlors of 1954 a farewell picnlc at Plxley Park, thus endlng our Junior year Now, we are the Seniors' We have a new advlsor Mr Swartzman We started the new year out with our S6n10P play 'The Babysitter' dlrected by M1ss Angelakos Then we held a Sen1or dance We seemed to have gone money mad but 1n reallty we were only earning money for our Kortenaerlan Mr Swartzman M1ss Angelakos, MISS Maahs and Mlss Beeman were the advlsors for ou! yearbook We gave away a free Kortenaerian, wh1ch was won by Ellzabeth Dolan Next our attentlon was d1verted by the announcement of our'Valedictor1an and Salutatorlan Then we ordered name cards and announcements, our caps and gowns, and our d1plomas We are golng 170 Canada on 0111' Senior tI'1P Flnally We'11 have Baccalaureate, Graduation and our Senior Ball We w1l1 go forth to many dlfferent Jobs We are no longer chlldren we are young men and women We are golng to bu1ld our place 1H the future, worklng s1de by s1de We wish the best of luck to all of our classlatos and schoolchums MOTTO BYE FOR NOW FROM THE CLASS OF '55 'Before us 1168 the timber, let us build ' FLOWER COLORS Red Rose Navy Blue and Baby Blue 14 C I Q U' Q . , .
