Boonville Central School Boonville. N. Y The beautiful new Boonville Central School addition, as pictured on this page, which has recently been completed at a cost of 3l,040,000, combined with and integrated into the older building is in every respect one of the finest educa- tional units for a community of its size in the state. The new building, with the old, combines practically every de- tail to insure for pupils of Boonville School District No. 1 the utmost in educational advantages from kindergarten through four years of high school. On November 5, 1953 a capacity crowd attended the Open House Dedication Program and viewed the new addition includ- ing the new gymnasium, industrial arts, and twenty elementar classrooms plus two large kindergarten rooms all equipped with latest teaching facilities. The main building has been adapted for use as the junior and senior high school division, with all departments com- pletely redecorated and modernized. The architects have done a skillful job of blending in the old with the new architecturally. In the overall picture there were many numerous changes in the central building to tie in with the new addition. We, as seniors, are very happy to have had this oppor- tunity to use as our theme for the Kortenaerian, this beauti- ful new building. Llrcumstancen are belng played as we take our places on the sta e X11 1 of us are seated to awa1t the usual formal1t1es of graduat1on Several of us are loo'n1 round at our frlends who have shared twelve years of school and soclal l1fe w1th us Sf to be able to read each other's m1nds and there 1S a melancholv look 1n our eyes txat r m1UdS us of a dav early mn September of 1912 when we were brought to school by our parents and left with 11ss La V1ne to make fr1ends w1th the klds who would be a great part of our l1fe for the next twelve vears It was a grand year for us, but Second w1th rs Cordon was harder Now we were veterans and more was expected from us we went on to the lh1rd rlde w1th MISS Vernon and upon OINE to lourth l1dn't thlnk that another th1n could be stuffed 1nto our heads However, M1ss Iseneker showed us that there was st1ll alot to learn he Flfth rade started off w1th 5 A under 11ss Uor1s Perrv and 5 B under Mrs Berenlce Davls was a blow to us to be separated after four vears to e1'f but we bore lt bravely Mrs lerov Uax1s lHlGP1t9d 6 A and MISS Ruchtl 6 B Th1s slxth w ar xxs hard but M1ss Ruchtl and Mrs Dav1s helped us w1th their excellent understanuln of handlcrafts F1nally we reached our goal and were glven a room on the coveted th1rd floor where we were lntroduced to Mrs Brooks and Rr Pahrlll our Seventh rade homeroom teachers As we look at each other now, the tw1nkle 1n several eves Lnd1PJtPS that we are recalllng how we stampeded the halls every 42 minutes Such chaos' we really were 2POW1Hg up, as was proved when we entered Llghth grade and rema1ned qu1te calm Mrs Brooks was agaln w1th us and M1ss Fusmer replaced Mr F8bP1Z1 However, we lost MISS Pusmer and made the short acqualntance of M1ss Rose 1U our Freshman year Th1s was 1t' we were on o1r way to graduate 1h four vears w1th many good tlmes ahead of us One of our most successful dances tool place that vear We decorated elaborately but our work was all torn down before 1nterm1ss1on Phe hours we spent decoratlng and the few seconds lt took to undo lt all' Nevertheless, lt was great fun In our Sophomore year we were unlted as a class with Mrs Brooks we held the Sophomore Hop wh1ch was equal 1n success to our f1rst one Next came the annual Sophomore tr1p to Albany Th1s crownlng event of the year took place 1n June 1952 How well we remember crawllng out of bed to greet the dawn and crawllng back 1H early the next morn1ng Mr Roemer and Mrs Brooks accompanled us on th1s tr1p In Albany we saw many educatlonal and 1nterest1ng s1ghts L00k1ng at a few members of the graduat1ng class tonlght we recall the1r urge to do some thlng dP8St1C when thev got inside the State Educatlonal Bulldlng abol1sh 1952 Regents low ever, two of the most outstand1ng events of the day were the banquet at Jack's Oyster House and the water escapade 1n the C1ty Park Th1s tr1p concluded the Sophomore 3Ct1V1t19S Now the graduatlon ceremony 1S nearing an end and our memorles also are nearly exhausted but we lapse back 1nto the past to recall a successful Jun1or year Most members of the class are 100k1ng down at the1r class r1ngs, rememberlng the ant1c1pat10n that preceded the1r ar r1val In the later part of January we held a successful dance Then 1n Aprll everyone turned dramat1c for the JUHIOP plavs, Mama Vets Marrled and Grandma F1xes Thlngs N Mrs Bgorkman dlrected these two h1lar1ous Sk1tS In fact, even as we recall them tonlght some of us have to stlfle a glggle as we recall how some male members of our class put on sklrts and changed the1r volces for the occas1on Pollovlns the play, came one of our long awalted events the JUHIOP Prom we recreated our audltorlum 1nto the'r1tziestxof Hlght clubs and chrlstened lt Club ll In June we gave the Senlors of 1953 a farewell p1cn1c at Plxley Park and thus ushered out our Junior year In the Fall of 1953 we ventured 1nto the last vear of our high school career 1U our new ly decorated homeroom the llbrary, w1th Mrs Brooks COHt1HU1Dg as our advlsor we started the soclal season by holdlng a Fall dance 1n the new gymnas1um December 2 we rushed the sea son by present1ng our Senlor play, 'Almost Summer,N directed bv M1ss Angelakos bollowlng the play we were served a spaghettl supper by M188 Beckingham the Cafeterla Manager Later we undertook the magnan1mous task of putting out the Kortenaer1an, w1th the assistance Mr Vafeas Mrs Freeman, Mrs Brooks, and Mrs Torrens Looklng back, these have been twelve short years, and probably twelve of our most memor able ones Entering school, we were l1tt1e aware that we Th' CLASS OP 1954 would be the 75TH GHADUATING CLASS, and the f1PSt class to graduate from the NEW BOONVILLP CLNTRAL SCHOOL Well' Th1s 1S 1t' larewell B C S We w11l not forget you or the many happy years we have had we're leavlng now to go our separate ways, but hope to return to B C S our teachers and our friends many tlmes 1n the future THE BEST OF EVERYTHING FROM THE 1954 GRADUATES.
