IT was a fairly simple and floppy round cap ThaT was made beauTifuI by The embellishmenTs added To iT. In iTs plain sTaTe, iT looked like a bereT of Today's fashion. No ScoTTish cosfume was complefe wiThouT The CoroneT or The kilT, which was a plaid l'skirT. Each clan was represenfed by iTs own coaT of arms and CoroneT. Evenfually, The name was changed To l'bonneT. Some bonnefs had Juniper bush, Laurel, pine needles, eagles feaThers, or oTher wild flowers affixed To The righf or lefT side. Specific clans used specific badges like These as Their idenTifying marks. IT was These various badges ThaT made The bonneT beaufiful. lVlosT of These clofh bonnefs were dark- colored. Dark blue was a popular shade among The clans. A brighfly- colored cloTh ball was fasfened To The Top in The cenTer of Thebonnef. Some Scofs of nobiliTy wore Clogaids: mefal skull caps ThaT proTecTed Their heads beTTer Than cloTh bonnefs. They were elaborafely jeweled To show off The miliTary sTrengTh of The ScoT. The ScoT never failed To decorafe his Clogaid wiTh eagle feafhers and his clan's badge. Of course There visions musT also be Tempered wiTh realiTy. They can be very desTrucTive if They are ToTally ouT of The realm of reason. Once raTional visions have been formed, Then one musT go abouT The Task of building foundaTions under Them so ThoT They will become realiTies. When I arrived aT BrewTon-Parker College aImosT Three years ago, I came wiTh a vision of whaT This college could and should be, and The faculTy and sTaff joined me in This vision. We envisioned a beauTifuI campus wiTh adequaTe buildings, qualiTy academic programs, a large sTudenT body, and numerous four-year degrees. AlThough This vision is sTill far from becoming a reaIiTy, each year iT moves much closer To ThaT goal. The reason ThaT BrewTon-Parker College is moving very rapidly Towards making These visions inTo realiTy is because of The hard work and vision of so many members of The faculTy, sTaff and adminisTraTion. From The efforfs of all of us working and dreaming TogeTher, The visions of Three years ago are now Taking concreTe form. lf you as a sTudenT are To be successful in your life, you, Too, musT have visions-big visions abouT whaT possibiliTies are for The fuTure, buT aT The same Time realisTic visions. Dreams and visions do noT become realiTies simply by dreaming Them. RaTher. iT Takes much hard work, deTerminoTion and perseverance To Turn Them inTo concreTe form. qu... -- . , -'-s 3,-.. i, .. 11 14 BrewTon-Parker College Office on The Move!
