CAM!! H010 QC? TIME: June l, 1974 PLACE: Hollywood, California EVENT: The premier of the new motion picture The Moon is Purple. The lights are shining brightly as we drive up to the theatre. This is one of the most important premiers of all timesg all the top personalities will be here. As we step from our car who should greet us but photographers! Millions of them are flashing their cameras! Whom should we see right in the middle of all of them but Joe Cleveland and Dave Van Loan. Say, these two are really making a name for themselves takin pictures of all the top stars! It is said that they specialize in making calengars. We finally got away from them. I wonder who will stop us next? Oh, there's the top columnist for Hollywood who writes Gossip Gimics for the Moony Movie magazine. I believe her name is Glendal Fitzhugh. And they say she really has a nose for news. Ah, getting by her wasn't so easy. But we finally made it into the theatre. Oh, there are my two old friends, Pat Steele and Shirley Riggan! Pat is an usher and Shirley hands out programs. They are working their way through nurses' training, but they've been at it so long now one wonders if they'll ever make it. Well, here we are in our seats. Let's look over the program and see Who's in The Moon is Purple. The co-stars are Betty .Io Pool and Kenneth Ruther- ford. You know, that Ken Rutherford is positively the greatest lover ever. Why, I bet he's dated every eligible girl in Hollywood. They say that when Betty Pool sings the blues in this movie it really sends you. What's this ? In supporting roles are Marilyn Whitehall and .Terry Wilson! Oh, I heard about that. It's said that their love scene in the last is something to see. I wonder! Look who's walking down the aisle. It's Dick Renner, the producer. . .I wish I had the money he's got, a multimillionaire, no less. He's got his private secretary, Deloris Shrable, and his chauffeur, Howard Guenther, with him. I guess he never goes any place without them, they're so efficient. What's all that confusion over there ? Oh, the bouncer, Ivan Kimball, has to escort someone out, some trouble-maker, I suppose. I feel safe with Ivan bouncing though, he's so big and brawny. Why, there's Leon Bartley, the celebrated director of The Moon is Purple. He has Della Mathers with him. She owns one of the largest clubs in New York, and just think, she started with a mere coffee shop in a trailer house. Back to my program. It says that the music is composed and directed by Barbara Guilliams. It should be good then, she alwa s features a solo on the baritone sax. My, the gowns were designed by Pearl, Howell! I wish she would design me a gown, she makes such beautiful creations! There's Tom Ansert, who owns the theatre. Behind him is Dr. Paslay, a famous woman doctor. I've heard that she performed her first operation on Mac Wilson, poor guy! Funeral arrangements were taken care of by Mortician, Larry Miller. What's all the clapping for ? Oh, the star Betty Jo just walked in with her aglent, Ed Myers. Without that agent ofhers she wouldn't be what she is today. T ere's Duane Harper and George Driskell, too. They are taking a vacation and touring the world, they just stayed in Hollywood long enou h for the premier What's this ad on the back of our program ? It's advertising a ioxing match! Boxing at Madison Round Gardens tomorrow night. Featured bout between Orvis Guenther and Dave Ham.mons. That I must see. They really get rough. 'Spose I can make it? Say, look up in the box seats. There's Fred Davies, a senator, who flew in from Washington D. C. He certainly is a distinguished guest. Sitting beside him is Ed Shirk. He was just promoted to dean of the college here. Such an intellectual man! Who's that sitting up behind us ? Why, it's Scooter Mason. She runs a reducing salon here in Hollywoodg she specializes in removing fat spots. Seems she never gets hers removed, though. Well, Ihad better turn around. The show is about to start and after all, that's what I came for. 43
