'W A vr---4, I .Q 'W The Senior Class sponsors Chuck and Luella Williams and Wynn and Mary Horney who took a third car left on their trip to Washington, D C Sunday morning May 20 1956 The first day those who had not been East and seen the Mississippi River had the thrill of passing over rt We reached Springfield Illinois in good time and got a good night s rest On the second day we en joyed the scenery and reached Cumberland Maryland rather late due to the winding roads Tuesday morning we drove into Washington D C , and registered at the Hotel Continental which overlooks the Capitol Plaza After getting settled we were taken on a tour of the F B I Building and Washington s Monument by Rep Wrnt Smith s Secretary We learned many interesting things about the F B I that fascinated us Washington s Monument is so located that you can see every thing of interest from its top In the evening we took a trolley car to Glen Echo Amusement Park where we really had a time on the roller coaster Wednesday the White House Sightseeing Corpo ration toured us through Washington D C Some of the more important things that we saw were the inspiring changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier White House U S Capitol U S Supreme Court Smithsonian Institute Bureau of Exgravtng and Printing Lincoln Memorial National Archives and a Ferry Boat ride up the Potomac fPlus a chicken dinner with the trtmmin sj to Mount Vernon We drove back through Virginia on the way back to D C We had our picture taken in front of the Nation s Capitol with the Honorable Wrnt Smith That evening we took a tour of the city and saw the lights Thursday morning we started homeward bound arriving at Columbus Ohio that night. Friday we drove to St Joseph Missouri and went to a double feature Spook Show. Saturday we stopped at Topeka and toured our own State Capitol We did some shopping and came home satisfied, tired educated and happy. HORNEY CHEVROLET COMPANY 4 Brewster, Kansas
