CLASS HISTORY ln the fall of 1949, along with the brilliance of leaves, came the Freshman Class of 145 students. Class officers for that year were: Ethel Pinkham, President, Rose Ellen Wedge, Secretary-Treasurer, Dorothy Stratton, Vice-President. Our first honor roll showed evidence of future Einsteinsf, but in our Sophomore year as our interest and participation increased, fewer students reached the 85 average. Our leaders were: David Cass, President, Edward MacDonald, Secretary-Treasurer, Timothy O'Connor, Vice-President. As Roger MacLeod, our class Marshal, raised the green and white baton, the long awaited Junior Exhibition began. Speakers were: Jane Crook, Dean Footman, Patricia llarmon, Richard Higgins, Robert flodgdon, Donald Jennings, Carolyn Perkins, Sherry Wentworth. Junior Class officers were: Paul Travis, President, Chester Kuchinski, Vice-President, David Cass, Secretary-Treasurer, Roger MacLeod, Class Marshal. Ar long-last came September of 1952, and we assumed the coveted roll of sedate Seniors. After a heated campaign Roger MacLeod was elected President, Robert Adams, Vice-President, Barbara Nelson, Secretary, Judy Patterson, Treasurer. Just before the anxiously awaited Christmas vacation, our Senior play, We Shook the Family Tree, was presented under the able direction of Mrs. Barbara Browne, assisted by Claudia Clark. The cast included Pat 1-larmon, Robert Hodgdon, Jane Crook, Rose Ellen Wedge, Timothy O'Connor, Dean Footman, Dorothy Stratton, Ruth Crockett, Margaret Sanders, Donald Jennings, James Hainer, and Carolyn Perkins. As we leave the halls of Brewer High School, filled with pleasanj memories of the past four years, we look forward to a bright future. ' SENIOR GIRLS l'4irxI limr: Alberta Hihite, Sherry XVentwurtli. The running of Tim O'Connor, Eddie Dean, and Bob Bower, and powerful line play were the deciding factors in the initial win. On the second outing of the campaign against Morse of Bath, Brewer succumbed in a bitter, hard-fought battle. Morse won the game by a score of 19 to 7. The running of Eddie Dean and Bobby Bower highlighted the game. Brewer bounced right back on the win column the following week as they whipped the Skowhegan Indians 21 to 0 in a driving rainstorm. The entire team played a superb game despite the hazardous conditions. We racked up our third win the following Saturday night as we belted the Indians of Old Town, 33 to 6. Swivel-hippedi' Bobby Bower and hard-driving Eddie Dean once again highlighted the game with their brilliant running. The Tetreaumen compiled their fourth win in live starts in their next encounter by soundly thumping Rockland 52 to 0. Bobby Bower, Eddie Dean, lim Hooper and the entire Brewer line led the attack in this one. The Orange and Black clad Brewerites made it four in a row at Fairfield on the next weekend as they rolled to a decisive 25 to 17 win over the hapless Fairfielders. Eddie Dean and Bobby Bower once again led the attack as they literally swept the Lawrence boys off their feet. The witches added Bapst to their list of victims in their next encounter in a well- played contest. The game was hard-fought all the way, but the Witch City boys finally eked out a 6 to O win. Big jim Hooper scored the only T. D. of the game and was a standout throughout the contest. For the second time in a row the Witches ran into a tough foe, this time the Stearns Minutemen. After being hard-pressed right down to the wire, the Brewer boys again came out on top as they edged Stearns of Millinocket 20 to 18. Hula-hipped Bobby Bower and power-driven Eddie Dean played standout games in a winning cause. We lost our second game of the campaign on Armistice Day as we bowed to the powerful Bangor Rams 25 to 20. The Rams were forced all the way before winning in the Hnal thirty-five seconds. Once again the entire Brewer squad played a bang-up game. If any one individual were to be pointed out for his play, it would be our Sophomore whiz, Bobby Bower. Bobby was all over the Held against the Bangorites. He scored 20 points against the Rams in his superb performance. 1..i...L1 -.- ....,,. .-11..T1 DHVXUK Q ...f f PLAYERS? The Witches had only a mediocre season, winning , eight and losing a like number. Although the Brewer team was not of tournament calibre this year, they never- theless gave a creditable account of themselves during the season. 50 Those receiving letters this year are as follows: Eddie 67 Dean, Bud Augherton, Jackie Miller, Dave Cass, Dave 58 Allen, Charles Knowlen, Bobby Wiles and Bobby Bower. 44 The lone Senior on this year's club was Dave Gass. IUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL Coach Tetreau's Brewer Juniors had a bad season this year as far as records go fthe team had a 3-13 won-lost reeordl, but they nevertheless achieved their prime pure pose-to get the fundamentals of the game and gain some experience. Most of the boys showed fine promise at the end of the year and will hear watching in the near future. U , . BREWER TRACK TEAM - 1952 The Brewer track team, although winning only one meet, made a very impressive showing this year. The first part of the year proved the squad rather weak, but by the middle of the season Coach Tetreau's boys were really rolling. The Penobscot Valley Conference meet, a thriller all the way, set Brewer close to the top on the local scene. Then the State track meet, a new venture for the team, placed the Witches high on the list in State competition. When the season was over, Brewer rated high but prom- ised to be even better in the future. Those receiving letters for the season were Iohn ller- rick, Leonard Ford, Stan Clish, Bob Adams, Bob Bower, Ronald Kenney, Dick Law, Chet Kuchinski, lslarry Drew.
