BUSINESS The business courses offered at Brevard Senior High not only enable students to get jobs in the future, but are also a service department to their school in the present. The courses offered are typing, shorthand, bookkeeping. Business English, Business Math, and Busi- ness Machines. Typing II, taught by Miss Jackie McNabb, teaches students de- tailed typing. Students learn the parts of the machine as well as how to type in Mrs. John Verner ' s Typing I class. In Miss McNabb ' s Shorthand II class, the stu- dents take dictation from oral reports given by members of the class. Mrs. John Thompson shows the values of bookkeeping. t ’[ f :l Several new adding and calculating machines have been added to the office machines room. 18 II

To enable future adults to live in this new scien- tific age, whether their knowledge is basic or de- tailed, is the purpose of the Science Department at B.H.S. If a student desires detailed knowledge, there are three advanced courses taught in addition to the regular classes. Coach London Deal looks on as his Chemistry students attempt to perform a successful experiment. Physics, taught by Coach Deal, can be applied to everyday life in many ways. Mr. John Matthews ' Special Physics class finds the height of various objects around the schoot by measuring the shadows. 17
