SBIIIUT IIIZISS prophecy In the Statler Building, Washington, D. C., in the year 2000 A. D. we find JERRY STAMEY, who has recently resigned his position as ambassador to Great Britain engaged in conversa- tion with Congressman Dusty Erwin: Much has, of course, happened in the fifty years past, but I think you'll agree that most of our fears and worries of our graduation year proved groundless. You remember with what grave concern we con- sidered a possible third World War? And - atomic energy - how we shuddered when considering its destructive possibilities! Then, we knew this vast energy only in terms of the atomic bomb. We had no definite knowledge of atomic energy's bene- ficient possibilities of long service put into actuality in the saving of billions of dollars in industry, and the miraculous saving of lives in the field of medicine. Tis true, Jerry, and since we are reminiscing, perhaps you would like to hear of some achievements of our former Brevard High Classmates during your long absence from Transylvania County. JIMMY ZACHARY, who has proved Einstein's theory to be incorrect, is perfecting one of his own. MAMIE JANE CURTO has made a sensational debut at the Metropolitan. LEE NORTON has iust been elected to the post of County Coroner. MARY DEAN is in Bohemia collecting recipes for her latest cookbook. CHARLES WOLFE has been promoted to the position of Fashion Editor of Harper's Bazaar. SARAH MULL is devising a method for uncurling pig's tails. REBA and REBECCA ALLISON are modeling for Toni Home Permanents in Twin Cities, Idaho. In the near future, MILDRED FULLER will begin painting white lines from the center of our highways. ZELLA GENTRY is trying to sell the patent on her invention of the noiseless auto horn to BILL HAYES' Hot Rod Corporation. The alarm clock radio, which is always set by Mr. Erwin for JOHN McKELVEY'S news program, automatically turns on, and the voice of the commentator booms over the air: Good afternoon Mr. and Mrs. North and South America and all the atom boats and rocket ships in the stratosphere! Let's go to the press! Flash! GERALDINE DANIELSON, top flight producer of airplanes, in order to stop the terrific toll of crashes, has invented a plane which doesn't leave the ground. Latest news from the planet Mars. JACK TALLEY, Dewey's Campaign Manager, is trying to get him elected president there. BRUCE MCGUIRE has iust convinced our new President, BETTY LYDAY, that aid should be given to the disabled teachers of Transylvania County. A special bulletin - FOSTER BAGWELL has iust inherited the Southern Doiries. PETE SHIFLET, President of Duke University, has proven that students learn better while asleep than while awake. 11 T HARRIET PATTERSON has been installed as the sponsor of the cheerleading squad at the University of Missouri. BETTY WHITMIRE owns a drugstore chain. Specialty item is pink pajamas. ln the theatrical line - DWIGHT BROWN has opened his new knife throwing act in Radio City. And now I leave you with this little word of wisdom if I may be so bold, use Parson's Tried, Tested, and Proven Pasture Fertilizer, remember, it stinks! As the doorbell buzzes the radio automatically turns off. The secretary announces to Mr. Erwin his visitors, who are the members of the Society for the Promotion of the Prevention of Cruelty to Earthworms, BONNIE HAWKINS, President, JANE ANNE HART, Vice-President. Other members are CARL GARREN, J. T. HOLDEN, PAULINE KEENER, and GAY NELL PATTERSON. Soon they are indulging in innocent chatter and naturally old classmates at B.H.S. are quickly brought up . . . Have you heard about the marriage of NANCY GARREN and JOHN BOGGS, performed by RANDAL MONTEITH, new Justice of the Peace in Reno, Nev.? Wosn't it marvelous about BOB MORRIS being appointed head coach at Bob Jones University? TOM MCCRARY called me the other night from his home in Caesar's Head and said that while in New York he heard MARGUERITE BISHOP, the torch singer at SHIPMAN WHIT- MlRE'S night club. Also on the program were BUEL FERGU- SON, HARRY GILLIAM, BOB MCGUIRE, KLINE SENTELLE, CHARLES SHIPMAN, EUGENE TINSLEY, and SID WILSON, The Seven Knighfits in a Barroom. Have you tried the automatic shoestrings that BETTY ALLISON invented, or ADELE BAGWELL'S new cigarettes with built in ash trays? JOYCE BROWN called the other day to ask when we are going to have a ioint meeting with the Peach and Pepper Pickles Club - you know, GLENA BAYNARD, DORIS BRYSON, and CAROLYN COLLINS are very active members. And have you seen the portrait of JEAN MARIE GRAVELY painted by MARIETTA DEUTSCH, exhibited at LUCY SMlTH'S Art Museum? MARIE LANDRETH and THRESSA MCCALL said they aged two years while touring HELEN HOGSED'S House of Horrors. Did you know that ANN MILLER, head nurse at JOE WHlTAKER'S Hospital is administering first aid to iniured foot- ball pIayers? Oh isn't it terrible about poor WAYNE KERBER still dig- ging in the salt mines in Siberia! UGREGG CLARK'S new production, The Triple Threat, starring CHARLOTTE SNELSON, MARGARET WILSON, and PAT NORRIS will be playing at the Star Drive-In Theater where FRANCES PARRIS sells tickets. Oh girls, have you seen ELIZABETH KELLEY'S and EVELYN MOFFlTT'S new hair dos? They were created by MARIE MCGUINN and WILMER McGEE, co-owners of the Bald Spot Beauty Shop. The chatter goes on and on and so must we.
