f LCQME RL-UV ' Packed with happening, the Homecoming weekend began on Friday, October 12, with myriads of returning alumni. Festivities were acti- vated on Friday evening with the Social Board ' s presentation of Brian ' s Song. Following the movie, the cheerleaders and soccer players teamed up to spark the spirit of the occasion with a pep rally. Saturday morning began bright and early for many who were up to transform their liv- ing quarters into individual versions of Fantasy Land, with Beam Dorm winning for the best dec- oration. At 1:30 the Brevard Tornadoes success- fully challenged the Western Carolina Ca ts in Cross Country and at 2:00 the soccer team tooK me field against Montreat-Anderson, easily defeating them. Half-time activities included the presentation of the Homecoming Court, selected this year from a bal- lot of ten sophomores and eight freshmen women chosen by the Cross Country and Soccer teams Presented were Anne Carpenter, Kathy Kiser, Debbie Renick, Cindy Nanney and Sharon Gregory. In addition a flashy display was pre- sented by the Girls Corps from Monroe, Georgia As a musical supplement to Saturday supper, Rick Pusey, Frank Cothran and company played an as- sortment of rock. At 8:00 p.m. Saturday Dunham auditorium was converted into the Land of Fantasy with live music by Nantucket Sleigh- ride. Midway through the dance came the anxious- ly awaited moment when President Davis crowned Anne Carpenter as the 1973 Homecoming Queen. 28 Homecoming

Activities got underway in early October for the two social organizations on campus, the Nemos and Delphians. Induction of new members, involved a week-long, fun-filled initiation, climaxed by the traditional mud battle on the seventh day. This event and the many others en- countered as a member of these groups are important to many in the development of a memorable college life. Campus Life 27
