In June 1944 Brevard College celebrated its tenth anniversary, round- ing out a decade of service and achievement. This celebration was marked by the return of many alumni and members o f the Board of Trustees. There was a full week-end of fun and fellowship, which was climaxed by a pageant, The Bells of Brevard, presented on West Hall lawn by the faculty, students, and alumni. This year, 1944-45, marks the beginning of another decade of growth and improvement. As we look into the future we see Brevard College a larger and finer institution for all those who come here. Already many improvements have been made. The gymnasium, built by the students and friends of the College, is in the process of being enlarged. At the meeting of the alumni during the 1944 Home-Coming, a fund was started for the library in memory of Mr. C. E. Buckner, former dean of the Col- lege. Already ' additions are being made to the contents of the library. The walk from West Hall to Taylor Hall has been paved. Because of an in- crease in students, Ross Hall ' has been re-opened as a dormitory for boys; and Taylor Hall, from roof to basement, is full of girls. Virginia Lodge is not in use. f offer 1 fct This year Brevard College has not only grown but has enlarged its offerings. An art department, under the direction of Mrs. Bramlett, has been added to the curriculum. This year also, in addition to voice and piano, violin is taught. In the summer of 1944 Brevard College lent dorm- itory space and other forms of cooperation to the Transylvania Music Camp under the direction of Mr. Pfohl. The concerts on the campus were an enjoyable phase of the summer school entertainment program. Although it has been a year of hard work for many, it has been one of pleasure. There has always been the never-tiring work and inspiration of our president, the never-ending determination of our faculty for better character and higher achievement in our students, and a spirit of loyalty in the alumni and friends of the College to keep us pressing hopefully toward the future. The same zeal and determination that have brought Brevard College through the last ten years will carry it successfully into the future, with even greater and more significant accomplishments.
