L. olttanc PRESIDENTS MESSAGE TO THE CLASS OF 1941 Brevard College is now closing its seventh year of operation. Members of this year ' s class have spent two years of this time on our campus. You have seen us as we are. In some instances you have been impressed with the strength of our program. All of us know that there are certain weaknesses which must be evident to any person who observes conditions around him. The time has come for expansion. Our facilities must be increased in order that the scope of our service may be enlarged. We have talked about such developments for the past seven years. We must now make our dream a reality. We ask your loyal support in any program of development which may be attempted, and we pledge to you our sincere purpose to render un- selfish service as the years go by. Great opportunities await us. May we have the faith and the courage which the present age demands. E. J. The Tornadoes got oil with a late prac- tice session; and after only ten days of prac- tice they traveled to Greeneville, Tennessee, only to be defeated by Tusculum 24 to 0. Another hard blow struck the Tornadoes when Belmont Abbev defeated them 14 to 6. Coming to their home ground the next week they were defeated by a blocked punt in the closing minutes of the game by Tennessee Wesleyan; the score was 19 to 14. The Tornadoes hit their lull stride on Home- coming Day by downing P. J. C. 60 to 6. They then defeated Blue Ridge 20 to 0, Appalachian B 10 to 6, and E. M. I. 40 to 13, Thanksgiving Day saw the Brevard roster go to Mars Hill and defeat a team that had not been defeated in the 1940 season or in the history of Brevard College. The score at the end oi the game, however, was Brevard 26, Mars Hill 14. Names Position Names Position Prentice .... .... Back Magness Tackle Dyer Guard Biddix . . The purpose of the Physical Education Department of Brevard College is to provide a broad recreational program for all students on the campus and to arouse interest in physical activity in order that students may find health and happiness for themselves, their families, and their communities, and may act as leaders in the great national recreational program. The athletic program functions through sports and athletics managers, class managers, and captains. Intramural competition in all sports is keen. lit I D HI II!
