CGC g Brescia's chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children is part of an international organization designed to foster increased public awareness of the needs of exceptional children and to help provide services in these areas. C.E.C. members also receive a journal describing new andlor successful approaches to workingo with exceptional children. The Brescia C.E.C. sponsors an annual 20-mile walk to raise funds for this area's special education programs. This year they conducted an experimental workshop on Songs for Camp and the Classroom and received several requests for repeat performances. In cooperation with the Special Education Department they sponsored a Teacher Effectiveness Training Workshop for all education majors and area teachers. Brescia's C.E.C. also worked closely with the Opportunity Center School on its bowling and swimming programs for the mentally retarded. President: Bonnie Zumbiel V. B.S.N.E.A. members become acquainted with local, state and national chapters of this educators' association and are exposed to new developments in the teaching field through a monthly edition of a professional journal. This year B.S.N.E.A. sponsored a free trip to Louisville to tour the facilities at the Kentucky School for the Blind and the American Printing House for the Blind where periodicals, textbooks and other literature are transcribed into braille, talking book and large print books. They also presented a display of Brescia student-made classroom materials and teaching aids which were included in a book of teaching aids compiled at the national C.E.C. convention.
