eunice kennedy shriver receives honorary degree Eunice Kennedy Shriver is a woman of national renown. She has distin- guished herself in the field of improving human relationships and human conditions . . . from World War ll when she worked with German prisoners of war to the present when she is deeply involved in bettering the lot of the mentally retarded. Eunice Kennedy Shriver is the first woman recipient of Brescia's Honorary Doctor of Humanities Degree. lt is an honor for Brescia to count her among its alumni and Eunice Shriver well deserves all the honor Brescia can give her. In receiving the degree, Mrs. Shriver gave Brescia another bequest - that of a challenge and a goal. She charged each person present to strive to realize his or her full potential for achieving good - in the community, the nation, and the world. She reminded us that it is the individual effort which eventually brings progress or change for the better. Eunice Kennedy Shriver embodies the creed that, for good or ill, one person CAN make a difference - in a community or in a world.
