We are very proud of our fellow students who have made either of the Honor Rolls The students who made the Scholar ship Honor Roll are Janet Bryant, John Litzsinger, Edwin Harper, Anna Sleve, Virglnla Sllvers The students making the Cltlzenship Honor Roll are Edwln Beekman, Ethel Brown, Janet Bryant Harold Dunford, Lyno Facchln John Glascock, Dorothy Glasgow, Edwln Harper, Lucy J Kahmann, Emely Kephart, Nancy Lankford, Russell Litzau, Fay Lltzslnger, John Lit singer, Mary Ellen O'Dell, Vlvlan Potthoff, Irlene Rhea, June Schoenbeck, Anna Sleve, Vlrginla Sllvers, Janet Spratte Jean Stocker, Jessle Toennlngs meyer, and John Worley This year the Sophomores have been givlng particular at tentlon to extra ourrlcular ac tlvities Debating has proved especlally interestlng to many ln our class In the Engllsh class four boys volunteered to take part ln a class debate The questlon declded upon was Resolved Mllltary Tralnlng Should Be Made Compulsory Publlc Hlgh Schools One team was composed of Roger valwork and Clarence 0'Sull1van The other team was James UcNe l and Roy McGrady lhls debate was thoroughly engoyed and the class showed thelr appreclat on by votlng for the class Wh1Ch made the best showlng Vlrglnia ollV8FS was membel of the regular Debat ng Team It is well lnown that many Sophomores are golng outu for the debating squad in earnest next year and we hope to pro I vide our coach, Miss Shipman, a busy and profitable year. The first week in December was observed as Music Week by Mr Williamson and the Sopho mores Three assembly programs were glven The first being an operetta, 'Lady Frances , which consisted of flfteen Sophomore girls The second was a chorus and orchestra program conslst ing mainly of members from the Sophomore class The third and last of these programs was a pep assembl which was a combi natlon chorus, mlnstrel and an ateur show We have taken an actlve part in the Character Educatlon program Our home room meetings have been prlmarlly devoted to the study OL the twenty charac ter tralts whlch have been strongly emphaslzed on our character sheets Special at tentlon has been given to out standlng leaders and thelr tralts of character have been studied The operetta called nTady Frances also stressed some of the tralts we have studled character educatlon The Sophomores had about twenty partlcfpants ln the High School Operetta Two glrls had leading parts and several boys had speaking parts A number of the Sophomore class sang in the chorus Thls year Coachlrg school was carrled on under a new stu dent, Anna Sleve The first quarter the students were helped n Al ebra and English The attendants showed marked improvement ln their work The Sophomores took an active part ln the coaching school and the students, who so ably assisted were Anna S1eve, Ethel Brown, John elascoca, John Lltzslnger The checklng room has been . .
