Mr S E McDonald MR MCDONALD Mr Samuel E McDonald now un the Unuted States Army left us thus year because there us a bugger job to be done a job that wull take all the skull and untellugence of every one of us We the Senuors of 1944 realuze the sugnuflcance of our pruncupals departure and would luke to honor hum here by a bruef resume of hus servuce and devotuon un hus assocuatuon wuth the Brent wood Schools When Mr McDonald came to Brentwood un 1930 from Claurton Brentwood Hugh School con susted of only two rooms un the Elroy School The Board of Durectors findung need for expansuon uncreased the suze of the school ct year later by the addutuon of one room un Moore School and two rooms un the Chrustuan Church ln February 1932 the Hugh School buuldung was buult and Mr McDonald always unterested un the Brent wood school system became pruncupal and has sunce been unstrumental un our story of progress Wuth the unstallatuon of a complete faculty the need for a course of study other than college preparatory became apparent and a commer cual course was added By 1935 Brentwood Hugh School offered three general courses of study academuc general and commercual pro vudung a specual course of study to f1t every stu dents need In order to meet the needs of the expandung Hugh School a new addutuon to the school was added un 1939 At thus tume a new gymnasuum The Anthem and audutoruum were added as well as the cafe terua and many new classrooms The school buuldung however was not the only thung to grow for the many specual actuvu tues of B H S have grown lust as rapudly There are now many unterestung clubs a newspaper musuc shop and home economucs classes all of whuch are desugned to brung out specual unterests or talents un theur respectuve f1elds Durung the war years of 1942 and 1943 Brentwood Hugh School under the durectuon of Mr McDonald has contunually guven uts students latest unformatuon regardung specual t1elds spe cualuzed traunung un the armed forces and scholarshups and awards In apprecuatuon of the help and guudance that Mr McDonald has guven us durung our years at Brentwood we as Senuors heartuly guve thanks and wush hum the very best of luck un hus new endeavor 10 . . , 1 I I ' I I . . , .
