Twirlers Champs Again The majorettes won th f-Qi. Chaqmpion Tro h for the second year in a row. In district Pam Dietz andnAnn Dreyer plzgedffifsiafnid slecofj. Out of a panel of three judges, five seniors and',one sophomore,were chosen for twirlers. .fff X Q ln order to try out a few qualifications had to be met. On mug obtain a B + average, be a member of the first band, have one year experience in marching band, and must try out with an original routine. The twirlers kicked off the Mayfest parade and added pageantry to the Fat Stock parade in Houston. They twirled in the Cotton Bowl with the band in the parade of Champions. 1. Journalism I Does Cub Growl The Journalism I staff worked to put out seven issues of the Cub Growl. The staff wrote the articles Qwhich included features, editorials, and newsj, pasted up the pages, and sold the advertising that supported the paper. The Banner-Press printed the papers which were distributed to the students by the Growl staff. The 11 member staff consisted of: James Linville, editor-in-chief, Cathy Tabor, associate editor, Duane Luekemeyer, news editor, David Leibham, feature editor, the associate editor for business was Peter Fay and Hunt Giddings was the advertising man- ager. . Mark Whitehead was the chief photographer and Ray Busby and Russell LaRoe were photographers and darkroom technicians. Benny Robbins and Debbie Reynolds were report- ers for the paper. Miss Linda Whitley served as adviser to the paper. 1, David Leibham, one of the photographers for the Growl, writes a story for the paper, 2. Cathy Tabor looks at the slides to identify them. 3. JOURNALISM I STAFF: FRONT ROW: Russell LaRoe, Mark Whitehead, Ray Busby, Miss Linda Whitley. SECOND ROW: David Leibham, Cathy Tabor, James Linville, Duane Luekemeyer. BACK ROW: Hunt Giddings, Benny Robbins, and Peter Fay. 4. James Linville strives to get things ready for the Growl. 5. Duane Lueckemeyer fits the copy and captions for the paper. 6. Mark Whitehead fits the negatives into the slide holders.
