Pep Rallies Spark Spirit Among the yells to Tie the Tigers down to Shoot the Birds and the theme Rocky, the pep rallies showed the spirit that can be mustered from a thousand students. Sure, the silent minority was there but even they came alive when the band went into Rub- ber Band Man. And the stands shook as the Kickers led us in Go, go, get'um, get'um, ump, ah! Of course, there were the cheerleaders who jumped and yelled, and yelled and lumped, in desperate attempt to keep the spirit flowing. And flow it did, as different clubs got involved in the pep rallies, everything from mixed up firing squads to elabo- rate eagles appeared inthe skits meant to show the Cub domi- nance. Pep rallies had their serious moments too. When the coaches came forth and told us why we were winning, and why this par- ticular game meant so much to them. But you can't always take them seriously because you never know what kind of turkey is going to walk up to the micro- phone next. il? O Q 9 tm? xg,
