Two Cubs Receive Joe Fioutt Award On lVlay 18, the athletic picnic was held in honor of all par- ticipating athletes. Before the barbecue dinner was served, lettering and other special awards were presented. Special and outstanding awards were given in each sport. Willie Thomas and Kyle Dannhaus received the .loe Floutt football award. The tennis award went to Kelly McLendon, and Don Prenzler. Lisa Boehnke and Grady Kissel received the golf award. Alvin Hall took the basketball award. The track awards were presented to Mike Brown and Kay Schwartz. 1. Donny Ervin receives his award in basketball. 2. Cubs Go To District After having the excellent record of being 3A State Champs two years running and winning all-zone last year, the Cubs went to District this year and made it as far as Bi-District, being stopped by the team from Jas- per twice in a row. The Cubs opened the season with a win over New Caney with a score of 2-0. They then went on to beat Westlake 7 to 6. Having won these games the Cubs ended the season with 24 more wins and six losses. i 3
