Basketball Team Ends Non-District With Twelve Wins From the first day of practice the Cubs learned agility, and shooting ability, and with a lot of determination the Cubs opened against Cameron, winning, 57-56. The Cubs then went on to win the next tour games. The Cubs played in three tournaments, placing in twog took first in their own tour- ney, and Norris Pruett and Willie McDonald were chosen All-Tourney. ln the Columbus Tourney the Cubs didn't place but Willie McDonald was chosen All- Tourney. At Taylor Pruett was chosen most valua- ble player, McDonald All-Tourney, the Cubs again took first place. The cubs averaged 55.2 points per season game. I 14 I? lil al'l I 5 Frosh End Season With 6-3-'I Record From the first day of workouts the freshmen learned new skills, and how to become a competi- tive team. The workouts started out at two a day for two weeks. Then came the pads and along with them came the J.V. team to practice against. The freshmen opened the season with a win over Rockdale, 14-O, which set the tempo for the season finishing with a 6-3-1 record, and first . place tie with Navasota in district. ,FX ,ef mano I 3 2 1. 2 3 Cagers Post 21-7 Record for Season The first district game and loss came at the hands of Huntsville, 45-30. Winning the next four games, the Cubs came up against Huntsville again and lost, 60-44. The Cubs then won the next four games. The Cubs' winning streak came to an end when they lost to Aldine Carver 60- 55. The Cubs closed out district play with an 8-3 record. The Cubs racked up 53 points average and only allowed 50.2 points for oppo- nents, the over all season record was 21- 7.
