Students Honored On May 16, the students of Brenham High School were assembled to be honored for their accomplish- ments in academic and athletic fields. Robert Pfenning was named Valedictorian while Cathy Tabor was named Salutatorian. Thirty-eight honor graduates were also announced. Mark Weidner and Cheryl Schwartz were com- mended bythe National Merit Scholarship Program: Cheryl Sharp was honored as Outstanding Negro Student semi-finalist. American Legion Oratorical Contest winners: Ann Dreyer, lst place: David Leibham, 2nd place. Kyle Dannhaus received the DAR Citizenship award. Outstanding Students Honored at Assembly Awards were not only for academic achieve- ment. Awards were given to students holding special offices in student council, drill team, band, iournalism and different clubs. Students with special athletic ability were also recognized. Academic accomplishments were recognized by the naming of the valedictorian, salutatorian, and the honor graduates. Winners of UIL con- tests were also honored in journalism, typing, poetry, speech and science. L... 1. Paula Gregg was recognized as a Belle officer. 2. Lisa Sellers, Martha Knotts, and Elizabeth Sellers perform during the awards assembly while Linda Thaler plays the piano. 3. Kyle Dannhaus receives the Good Citizenship Award. 4. Ken Sharp is awarded the Echoes Scholarship. 5. Receiving the Sigma Chi Chi Scholar- ship is Cheryl Sharp. 6. Bruce Fritz is given the Brenham Whole- sale Scholarship. 7. Robert Whitmarsh is recognized as the band captain.
