We found that after choosing our theme, Moments to Re- member, we had to settle down and try to make prom night as glamorous as possible. May I8 came more quickly than we ex- pected. First, we went to the cafeteria for the banquet. The tables were decorated in an April Showers theme, and local talent entertained. When the meal was finished, we went to the American Legion for dancing and entertainment. lt was here that our King and Queen, Don Gragg and Kay Wiegand, were crowned. Football Kicking the score upward was the main goal of the football B-team. Although they played teams with much more experience, they kept on winning because of their skill in both defense and offense. The scores prove the expert defense of the team, as every opponent except Goshen and Knox was held scoreless. Since plans to play on our own field next year have been made, everyone is eagerly awaiting our first home game. With a new playing field and a varsity team, football can be expected to come into its own at Bremen next year. Mr. Bunge, Mr. Tiede, and Mr. Nierste were the football coaches. In our first sectional game, we needed two overtimes to eliminate Richland Center. In the sudden-death over- time, Knute O'Connor went to the free throw line and dropped in his 36th and 37th points to give Bremen a 71-69 victory. into the semi-Hnals we went, only to be handed a 43-28 defeat by Argos. Knute O'Connor, senior guard who was a regular last year, led the team in scoring with 323 points. Don Farrer, senior forward, had 204 points. The team went into the B-Team tourney with high hopes, but Madison, a team they had defeated by 21 points earlier in the week, came out on top of a nip and tuck battle 31-30. Ted Huber, Paul Blosser, Fred Becknell and John Silvey were the consistent scorers. The B-Team cheerleaders who did such a fine iob this year are Midge Powell, Bonna Candler, ond Sandra Wagoner. Bremen's freshmen team claimed the 4-team freshmen tourney championship and also sailed through an undefeated season, racking up a re- cord of 13 wins and no losses. Coach Nierste's team was led in scoring by Terry Hand. He had plenty of help from Everett Walterhouse, twin brother Larry Hand, Dale Allen, and Tony Zentz, who was also valuable in rebounding. Ninety-one students and 396 books composed the freshman class, Among the cub leaders were Jim Leman, Shirley Germann, Danny Spagnola, Jackie Espich, and Terry Hand The faculty sponsors were Mrs. Janice Baum- gartner, Mr. Don Bunge, Mr. James Luttrull, and Mr. Edwin Vernon. The money-making proiects of this year were selling candy and a bake sale. In their freshman year, they learned the responsibilities of lessons, the coeoperation needed in all class activities, and that friend- ships made are valuable ones. They found what salesmanship ability they possessed, how easy it was to get on the honor roll if they studied hard, and that their first year of high school was loads of fun. Pictured left to right are: Jackie Espich, Publicity Agent, Danny Spagnola, Vice-President, Terry Hand, Treasurer, Shirley Gormann, Secretary, and James Leman, President.
