During the first few years in the new building our in- structors tried hard to teach us the ropes about cow -handling and range -riding. Finally the day came when we moved on into the main BHS Bunkhouse. We were 37 strong by that time. Then Doris Sahlfoff, Rosemary Mutti, Mary Borneman, and Stanley Mutti joined us from the Lutheran School. We thought we were pretty experienced cow-hands but the way it turned out we were really pretty green. At the lOth roundup Bill Fox returned from North Man- chester and Ralph Stichter came from Mount Ayer. In our Junior year we added several new cowpokes. Jerry Treacle came from Canton, Ohio, Wally Huffer from Etna Green, Everett Miller from Rochester, and Mary Jane Pittman from Nappanee. At the beginning of our Final Year Bob Page joined us from South Bend and Manfred Schwoch, Otto Oesterle, and Helga Rinke visited us from Germany. When we organized for our Junior year our leader was Janie Mayer as president. Richard Nichols was elected vice president and Bon Tom- baugh, secretary-treasurer. During our Junior year there was much excitement with magazine sales and getting our classrings. Our Junior play was very successful and loads of fun. We presented Lights Out a mystery comedy in three acts. The biggest week of the year was the week preceding our Junior-Senior prom. We carried out the theme of Oriental Gardens and it seem- ed as if we were really transported into the mysterious Wonders of the Orient. Our King and Queen were Jim Drof and Evelyn Corl. There are three kinds of Seniors, Those who date and stay out late, those who loaf and congregate, and those who --- graduate. The class of '52 is the best class ever. Just look at our records: artists, actors, athletes, musicians, journalists, and occasional scholar, and a fine crop of loafers. We have finished smashing lab equipment, ground our last source theme out, thrown together our last note books, cheated on our last exams, and played our last games on the hardwood of Bremen High. Now we go out into the cold, cruel world. It's been a long road from the lollipop days to the prom breakfast parties. Our Senior year came to a close but we will always remember announcements and name cards -- Senior day and Senior Supper -- Prom -- Baccalaureate and Commencement. As usual we were a little sorry as the time for commencement grew near. As we take our place in the line of graduates we look back on the happy memories of a busy high school life and then turn to face the future, leaving our ac- tivities to the class of '53. The hero, Richard Nichols, and the heroine, Marsha Robinson, finnally solve the mystery after several episodes of lights going out and screams. Violet Bork- holder, Bill Fox, Evelyn Corl, Verna Palmer, Everett Miller, Martha Perrot, Stanley Mutti, Neva Hochstetler, and Bill Mummey also did their bit to make the play a rollicking success. Carol Klinedinst was student director, Miss Terwilliger our producer. We also gave a prom in honor of the senior class. Our theme was oriental, with Jim Drof and Evelyn Corl reigning over the gala oc- casion as king and queen. We all pitched in to decorate the gym which we did in blue. Chinese nut cups, menus, and programs added to the scene. In this manner our junior year passed and we became seniors. X! x'! Am t h at .1 . - 9 .Q -M.. 4- ww. wnrllflgfuvllin In-Mt When the year began we were a group of pretty green cow-hands. We took a lot of bumps and spills but, believe it or not, we made it. Twelve of us were in band and twenty-nine in rnixed chorus. As for sports, we were pretty proud of our bas- ketball tearn, winning a good percentage of our games and nine girls participated in G.A.A. pro- jects. F,F,A. claimed nine of our boys and two of our girls were librarians. Miss Tyler, lvlr. Thorn- berry, and Mr. Kruse led us through this trying year with surprising patience. EUNIEEHT IEHHGQ In Corral no. 209 a group of buckeroos gather every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday noons to let out a yippee. After many hours of drudgery, we put in our first public appearance Qwith over 400 other students, at the Teacher's Institute and were we scared! It turned out to be more fun than it was work. We also sang at the Christmas basketball game and were in other school programs through out the year, and we were called upon by the Kiwanis club to give a program on January 19. Our year of activities was ended on March 9th in a joint concert with the band. 3 v AJQZ4 5- 1 5 ' K' . f:,: ,a g an 41 ,f ,S . We'll never forget all our joys and our sorrows from the past twelve years. We've had accomplishrnent but nary a failure. We've learned everything -- well, almost everything! Although we may not have appeared as attentive and as alert as our teach- ers would want, we learned a lot. Yes, sir, quite a lot -- and not all from books either! Now, as our Senior year ends, we will go sit on the gate and watch the class of '53 take the reins in the big corral as we leave to ride across the range of life. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot grub that we received each day, and were willing to spend some time in line waiting our turn. We long ago learned that it doesn't pay to try to buck the line. The cafeteria was open to us for dances. parties and other school and community affairs. Even some of our study halls were held in this sunny building. The cafeteria is a building that is being used to the best advantage for all the students of Bremen School.
