SENIOR OFFICERS Jack Shively ..... ...........,.., Vice-President Paul Smith ....... ..........,,,, President Lyle Shenefield--- - ,... ,,,-, Secretary Warren Keyser eniorfi Dear Diary: As I write in you, it doesn't seem possible that it is for the last year. Since 1938, as you know, we've had many experiences, some good and some not soo good. Let's see! That's the year we started our education-some at Sunnyside, some at Muncie, and some at the old Bremen School. The following year the schools were consolidated into the new Bremen School. As the years rolled on many students left us and many new ones came. Then the day came when we were shoved into high school. ln the ninth grade, the students coming from other schools were Bill Leeper, Phil Miller, Don Holdeman, Martha Bornemann, Jane Glomp, Marion Sahlhoff, Helen Mutti, Ellen Seitz, and Bill Jones. ln the tenth grade Joanne Crowel, Joanne Henne, and John Fehr came. In the eleventh grade Bob Babcock, Ronnie Rolland, and Ray Smith came. During our twelfth year Edgar Blessing from Kemnat, Germany, visited with us. ' When we organized as juniors Herb Hueni was our president, Lyle Shenefield our vice-president, and Doris Clindaniel our secretary-treasurer. During the year we sold 52,100 worth of magazines to bolster our class treasury, our precious class rings came the first part of January, and we also enjoyed dressing up for a gala junior prom at the Hotel Elkhart. Of course, play practice added some fun and hard work to our junior year. The play, The Doctory Has A Daughter went off very well with the help of Mrs. May. Treasurer X fl - Now, as the mighty seniors of '50, there are forty-nine of us, willing, able, and as studious as can be expected. You know, Diary, I think maybe there is some hope for us, although sometimes our teachers don't think so. Just take our basketball team. There were six seniors on it-Rex Allen, Lew Brown, Herb Hueni, Warren Keyser, Jack Shively, and Paul Smith. All three of our cheer leaders were seniors. They were Doris Clindaniel, Day Lou Smith, and Louis Flora. There were sixteen seniors in concert choir, fifteen in mixed chorus, thirteen in band, four in G. A. A., sixteen in Sunshine, five in 4-H, six in F. F. A., three in science club, and there were two senior librarians. Our student council representatives were Carol Seymour, and Bob Babcock. This senior year certainly was busy. We ordered our graduation invi- tations and name cards, and were measured for our caps and gowns. After many hot arguments we finally came to a conclusion about our commence- ment program, and we planned a boat trip to Niagara Falls. We wasted a whole morning of school just taking our glamourous senior pictures. Why wouldn't we be beautiful posing for that photographer? Commencement was a fitting climax to our busy year. Now we leave all these exciting activities to the class of '5l. , r llfxjg . Some of them would get into the wrong class and wouldn't realize it until the period was half over. They took advan-- tage of several privileges, and they thought that they would really have a swell party during high school like the rest of us did. They soon settled down a little and many of them joined our varied activities. There are thirteen freshmen in senior band, twenty-eight in mixed chorus, twenty girls in G.A.A. and twenty-five in Sunshine. They are also represented in other activities. This is the largest class in high school now. There are sixty-eight freshmen. Their student council representatives are Janet Koontz and Loren Felren. We see some of the freshmen girls are already roaming the halls with guys in the higher grades. The Lions opened the home part of their season with a brilliant victory over the Bourbon Comets. The Comets were eventually runners-up in the County Tournament and also Sec- tional Champions. ln the final scheduled game Knox fell victim to a barrage of points totaling 66 which was the highest number of points scored in any game during the season. The Lions scored 988 points in 21 games as against our opponents 1,042. Lewis Brown, Warren Keyser and Paul Smith were the top scorers with 311, 229, and 220 respectively. Coach Sample spent many tiring hours scouting and coaching. Much of the credit goes to him for a job well done. As the pictures show, we find plenty to keep us busy. Along with our studies we mix sports, nu- merous senior activities, plays, and parties. Thus our school days are complete. Many of us tail to realize the importance that school days play in our lives. Our teachers help us to grasp the main ideas which will help us in the future. After completing our school diary, we will begin different types of diaries-of college, farming, engineering, and other occupations. May we each try to accomplish the goals we have set before us, so that when our school days are finished, our diary will be a completed book of achievement and not of failure. While we are ending our diary, many are just beginning on the long way up to the completion of their book. We hope they have the enjoyment of working together at their tasks as we have en- joyed working at ours. Dorlyn Drudge, Editor. y 'L . Q t ' . A . X .. N 1. S...
